Tourmaline Prey

A group of scientists discoverd a way to manipulate the genetic makeup of a living organism.   The organism's orgainc body is replaced with a mechancial one, giving it a strength and durability beyond what is possible for its original form.   Despite the benefits of this transformation, others saw this as twisting of the natural order that should not be allowed. the scientists persisted, pushing the boundaries of what was possible, refining their process until they discovered that by using minerals such as tourmaline in the creation process, they could fuse the body with the minerals to create a colorful, even more resilient armor. This unfortunately would change your body in such a way that you would never look the same.   The results are mechanical marvals that are a true wonder of science and magic. The first human subject to undertake this transformation was the captain of the tourmaline guard. He no longer can speak the same language but his loyalty to the queen reamins unwaivering. He protects the queen at all costs, but has a gentleness about him that his appearence otherwise does not state.
