Warforged are the unintended result of magical rites and twisted magic used during the Great War of The Races . While some have been around since the end of the war, most have not. Every decade or two someone discovers the deactivated remains of one broken or damaged during the war or that shut down after the war and some are repaired by those who discover them or awake on their own when they are disturbed. A side effect of those who have awakened after their long deactivation is that their memories have begun to degrade and most remember little of their past beyond the odd blurry memory.  Most surviving Warforged serve in the armies or royal guards of nations and are rarely seen by those outside those organizations.
