Genetics and Reproduction
Crystal Wasps lay their eggs in dead bodies. A single wasp can lay dozens of eggs within a body.
Growth Rate & Stages
After eggs are laid in a corpse they can hatch and grow to full size within hours within the corpse before bursting out. They typically have a lifespan of 2 to 4 years and lay can lay eggs as much as once a month during that time.
| First discovered about 93 years ago during the first expeditions into the wilds, the Crystal Wasp is a small voracious insect that will hunt and kill any warm blooded creature it comes into contact with. Though most often encountered in small groups there have been numerous reported incidents of large swarms of the insect appearing after major battles or plagues.
Crystal Wasp’s typically hatch from eggs implanted within a carcass of a recently deceased animal and a single insect can lay anywhere from 10 to 40 eggs in a single body of witch about half reach maturity. Unlike most insects of its nature the Crystal Wasp its eggs are extremely resilient to harsh conditions and can survive for years without hatching until the conditions are right to provide the required nutrients. Once hatched the wasp experiences rapid growth and as long as sufficient food is present they can reach full size, of 10-18 pounds, from anywhere from a few hours to several days.
