Ascendant Deity

An Ascendant Deity is less an ethnicity of a category of existence. Anyone can become an Ascendant Deity, be they spirit or mortal.   To become an Ascendant Deity you must come to embody something more than anyone else. Fire, Authority, Competition, Perfectionism, almost anything can be taken and controlled. This usually leads to a struggle against the existing deity of that position and defeating them at their own game. This process often requires you to discard anything that made you a different being, until nothing but your desire to achieve godhood is left.   Once you achieve Ascension and become a Deity you gain mastery of your element. Often this comes with a plane of your own to call home. The most important part of this, however, is that you cease being mortal under any circumstance. So long as you sit on your throne you will continue to live, removing you from the cycle of reincarnation.   This immortality comes at a cost. Should you ever lose your position and be replaced as a god you will rejoin the cycle of reincarnation.
