Personal history

Born into the lap of luxury, Anthony Stark lived a life of little worry. If he couldn't buy his way out of a problem, he could sure think his way out. Stark was a genius even as a kid, and learned about business management, engineering, and everything else he needed to know before he inherited the company from his father. But, tragedy struck as while visiting their Japanese branch over seas, they were suddenly attacked by the Mandarin and the Hand. Seeking to claim Stark's tech for their partners in A.I.M., the Hand held Stark, his father, and various other workers hostage as they raided the facility. In a bid to save the hostages, Howard Stark attempted to confront the Mandarin with the help of Anthony, but Anthony's own vice of self-preservation led to the Mandarin finding out about Howard's plan. The Mandarin killed Howard and used an explosion to escape. That explosion launched a piece of shrapnel into Stark's heart. To keep it from reaching his heart, Stark Industries' scientists used a super magnet/ renewable power source that Stark had developed, the Arc Reactor, to hold the shrapnel at bay. Now fueled by vengeance, Stark created an armor powered by his arc reactor to take back his weapons from the Hand and kill the Mandarin. After dealing with some low level Hand members, Stark met Cpt. Bucky Barnes who convinced him to give up vengeance and use his armor to help others. While continuing his fight against the Hand, Stark came out as Iron Man and began to take on other menaces to society. Tony's career as a super-hero lead him into contact with other like-minded individuals and to stave off an invasion by the Chitauri, Tony helped form the Ultimates as earth's first line of defense against any extraterrestrial, super-human, or super-natural threats. Unfortunately, the Ultimates disbanded following the loss of several of their members and growing tension between the remaining members. Stark has recently agreed to join Director Fury's Avenger's Initiative and has also offered Stark Tower as a headquarters for the east coast of US branch.

Mental Trauma

"Anthony Stark's psychological profile hints at an extreme case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. This is seen by his constant need to be in control and his obsession with singlehandedly protecting the world. Surrounding himself with a strong support group of his teammates has the potential to put him at ease about protecting the world, but the more minuscule signs of his OCD will continue."                                                                                                                                                                                       - Dr. Leonard Samson, P.H.D.
