Avengers Initiate #12: Thor Odinson
Prince Donar Odinson (a.k.a. Thor, Prince of Thunder)
Threat Level: Omega
Registration Status: N/A
Monitoring and Containment Procedures:
I. WEAKNESSES OVERVIEW
**1. Physical Vulnerabilities:
a. Divine Limitations: Even with the Odin Force, Thor remains susceptible to powerful attacks, particularly from cosmic or magical sources designed to counteract Asgardian beings.
b. Odin Force Dependency: The full power of the Odin Force requires focus and mental clarity. If Thor becomes distracted or emotionally compromised, his effectiveness can diminish.
**2. Psychological Factors:
a. Overconfidence in Power: The immense power of the Odin Force can lead to overconfidence. Thor may underestimate opponents, believing that his strength is insurmountable.
b. Emotional Ties: His strong connections to family and friends remain a vulnerability. Manipulating these relationships can cause him to hesitate or act impulsively.
**3. Energy Management:
a. Sustained Use: Prolonged use of the Odin Force can lead to physical and mental exhaustion. Thor requires time to recover after intense exertion of power.
b. Limitations of Power: The Odin Force is not limitless. If pushed too far or used in rapid succession, it may leave Thor vulnerable while he recovers his energy.
**4. Mystical Vulnerabilities:
a. Counteracting Magic: While the Odin Force grants immense abilities, it can still be countered by specific magical artifacts or entities that are designed to neutralize Asgardian magic.
b. Severing Connections: If a foe can sever Thor’s connection to the Odin Force, whether through magical means or other tactics, he can be significantly weakened.
II. STRATEGIC CONSIDERATIONS
**1. Combat Tactics:
a. Target Focus and Clarity: Create distractions that can disrupt Thor’s mental focus, making it harder for him to access the full potential of the Odin Force.
b. Magical Countermeasures: Use artifacts or beings specifically designed to counteract or negate the Odin Force, targeting its vulnerabilities.
**2. Psychological Manipulation:
a. Exploit Emotional Vulnerabilities: Use threats against his loved ones to create distractions and make him hesitate during critical moments.
b. Challenge His Beliefs: Present scenarios that challenge Thor’s convictions about power and responsibility, potentially leading him to doubt himself.
III. MONITORING AND ENGAGEMENT
**1. Surveillance:
a. Behavioral Monitoring: Keep track of Thor’s emotional state and focus. Recognizing signs of distress or distraction can inform engagement strategies.
**2. Response Protocols:
a. Engagement Plans: Develop tactical approaches that exploit his weaknesses, focusing on emotional manipulation and magical countermeasures.
b. Containment Procedures: In potential containment situations, utilize methods that address both his physical and psychological vulnerabilities while ensuring ethical treatment.
Artifacts
-
1. The Asgardian Warhammer Mjolnir: Mjolnir was a symbolic weapon of Thor, a hammer forged from Uru metal, whose chief properties are durability, the ability to maintain enchantment, and absorb energies. Mjolnir resembled more of a short-handle mallet than a traditional Warhammer. Mjolnir itself was already extremely durable and combined with the various enchantments placed upon it by Odin, was even harder. It survived heat as extreme as the heart of the Sun, and blasts powerful enough to destroy planets.
- Worthiness Enchantment: This enchantment surrounding Mjolnir prevented it from being wielded by anyone save those who have been found worthy. Thus far, this only included Thor. To anyone else, Mjolnir could not be lifted from the ground nor wrested from Thor’s grip. Those who were deemed worthy were able to wield Thor's powers.
- Mystical Link: Mjolnir obeyed Thor’s commands as though it were alive, and if Thor’s will was strong enough, the hammer could pass through nearly any barrier to reach him should he so chooses.
- Weather Control: Wielding Mjolnir granted Thor the ability to control the base elements of a storm, i.e., rain, wind, thunder, ice, snow, and more.
- Flight: Thor was capable of hurling Mjolnir with great force and, by holding onto the leather thong, was capable of flying through the air at tremendous speeds. While in an Earth-like atmosphere, Thor generally flew at Mach 32, and could change course in mid-flight. He could hover in mid-air with the winds.
- God-Blast: Thor was capable of channeling different amounts of his godly energies in combination with the mystical properties of Mjolnir. These energies could be channeled through his hammer for a single massive energy beam known as the God-Blast which is able to kill even immortals. Thor used the God-Blast to defeat Surtur and Ymir in the Battle of Korbin. The God-Blast was able to stop the Juggernaut (Cain Marko) while he was in motion and to push him back, letting fall him in a hole. The God-Blast was also shown to be capable of knocking down the sky mother Majeston Zelia, who absorbed the Odin-Force.
- Anti-Force: Thor was capable of producing an indescribably powerful blast known as the Anti-Force which was capable of annihilating entire planets.
- Thermo-Blast: Thor had the ability to produce a universe-shaking Thermo-Blast estimated to be capable of decimating even entire planets and beings as powerful as Ego the Living Planet.
- Energy Sensing: Mjolnir could detect practically all types of energy. It reacted particularly strongly to evil psychic energy and supernatural energy. Mjolnir could also track down the energy pattern of someone in hiding, detect any Asgardian's aura by their electrons discharge, and could sense and track the energy radiating from mystical objects.
- Nether World Power: Thor could use Mjolnir to tap into the power of the Nether Worlds (dark dimensions).
- Transmigration of Souls: Thor's hammer had the ability to manipulate souls.
- Teleportation: By grasping Mjolnir by the leather thong and rapidly swirling it, Thor could channel energies for the purpose of opening gateways through means of a vortex, and in this vortex, time has no meaning, which means he and others could pass through it to their destinations instantaneously. He could open gateways that allowed him to travel across locations no matter how great the distance within moments or even across entire dimensions, as he does when he travels from Asgard to Terra and vice-versa. Thor has used Mjolnir to rip the fabric of the Universe to send Surtur and Yimir to the Death Dimension and sent an entire population to Limbo. Thor could also use Mjolnir to travel through portals anywhere within the same dimension.
- Life Force Absorption: Thor used this ability on the supervillain the Presence, who was forced to surrender to prevent himself from being reduced to a lifeless husk.
- Cosmic Energy: Mjolnir allowed Thor to produce and control Cosmic Energy to an unknown limit for a variety of purposes.
- Electromagnetic Spectrum Manipulation: Thor was able to absorb and manipulate electromagnetic energies.
- Energy Absorption and Redirection: Thor was able to use Mjolnir to absorb energy blasts directed towards him as means of attack. Once the energy was absorbed, Thor could redirect it back amplified towards the source. Thor used Mjolnir to absorb Sky-Walker's Cosmic Tempest, radioactive energy, and magnetism such as Magneto's personal magnetic field. It has also absorbed mystical energies, such as Pluto's mystic flame. The hammer was even able to absorb a portion of the mystical energies granted from every god pantheon on Terra.
Physical Description
Special abilities
- Godly Strength: In addition to being the god of Thunder, Thor is also the Asgardian god of Strength. As such he is physically the strongest of the Asgardian gods and he is said to be able to lift 100 tons. However, many sources classify his strength as well above 100 tons, according to his Powergrid. Thor has shown many feats of strength over the years and defeated or battled to a standstill many of the world’s most powerful creatures including the Hulk, Namor, the Abomination, the Bi-Beast, Gladiator, and Hercules. Thor has also been shown to be able to snap adamantium alloy cables. He has towed the island hydro-base into New York Harbor and held up the George Washington Bridge long enough for Damage Control to fix it. Thor has resisted the gravity of a neutron star and destroyed planets as a side effect of him fighting. Although, most of these feats are tied to the enchantment of Mjolnir which was lost in the Battle of Ragnarok. Thor's strength still exceeds that of a Terran human's, but he has yet to display any feats similar to when he wielded Mjolnir.
- Superhuman Speed: Thor can move significantly faster than any human on foot and can reach up to Mach 32 when throwing Mjolnir.
- Godly Stamina: Thor's advanced musculature is more efficient than that of a Terran human and most other Asgardians, allowing him to sustain himself almost indefinitely without any exhaustion. He was capable of fighting for two years straight without food or sleep. Using the Belt of Strength also doubles his stamina to incalculable levels. While in the state of Warrior's Madness, Thor's stamina also increases tenfold.
- Superhuman Durability: Thor has been able to withstand attacks from several of the universe's most powerful beings including the Asgardian Destroyer,[202] several blasts from Odin, and even a hand-to-hand fight with Hercules. Unworthy Thor has also withstood the explosion of a solar system-sized ship during the destruction of Asgard, but not without the loss of his right arm and left eye.
- Superhuman Agility & Reflexes: Thor's reflexes, agility, balance, and bodily coordination are beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest Terran human athlete.
- Vast Energy Manipulation: Thor has the ability to manipulate vast amounts of energy, using Mjolnir he can channel the storm’s energy into blasts so powerful that he can destroy Secondary Adamantium. Thor can also channel his godly energies through Mjolnir, creating rays powerful enough to kill even immortals. Thor has since lost this ability due to the destruction of Mjolnir.
- Weather Control: Thor has the ability to control the elements of storms, both with Mjolnir. Thor has since lost this ability due to the destruction of Mjolnir.
- Superhuman Longevity: It is a common misconception that Thor and the other Gods of Asgard are truly immortal, they do age but at a rate so slow that to other beings they give the appearance of immortality. This is in turn enhanced by the Golden Apples of Idunn.
- Nigh-Invulnerability: The enchantment of Mjolnir affords Thor virtual invulnerability and immunity to any such mortal ailments as diseases, toxins, poisons, and highly resistant to most conventional injuries. He has also shown immunity to lead and radiation poisoning, and he has immunity to extreme heat and subzero temperatures. Since the loss of Mjolnir, Nova Corps researchers have concluded that while he is resistant, Thor has lost his immunity to mortal ailments as he himself is now mortal.
- Superhumanly Dense Tissue: Like all Asgardians, Thor's skin, muscles, and bones are about three times denser than similar Terran human tissue, contributing to his superhuman strength and weight.
- Rapid Healing Factor: Thor is not invulnerable to all harm and it is possible to injure him. But due to Thor’s Asgardian physiology, he is able to heal from most injuries much faster than a Terran human being could.
- Flight: Thor has shown the ability to fly and levitate with his hammer. He has since appeared to have lost this ability after the destruction of Mjolnir.
- The All-speak: Also called the All-Tongue. Thanks to the All-speak, Thor can communicate in all of the languages of the Ten Realms, Earth's dialects, and various alien languages.
Specialized Equipment
- Jarnbjorn: A battle axe forged by Dwarves that Thor wielded long before Mjolnir and recovered from the decimation of Asgard. Jarnbjorn is an effective blunt force instrument.
- Destroyer arm prosthesis: Thor used an arm taken from the Destroyer to replace his missing left arm after he lost it in the Battle of Ragnarok.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Thor is the blood-son of Odin, All-Father of the Asgardians, and Frigga, the goddess of Marriage, and was born in 522 A.D. Being of Eternal blood from the Asgardian tribe, Thor was the prince of Asgard and the inheritor to the throne. Thor was proceeded by his two sisters, Hela Odinsdotir, the goddess of Death, and Angela Odinsdotir, Queen of the Angels. The young Thor was raised alongside Loki Laufeyson, who had been adopted by Odin after Loki's Frost Giant father Laufey had been killed in battle. For all of their childhood, Loki was jealous of Thor. Loki's jealousy, which grew to hatred, resulted in a desire to kill Thor. Thus began Loki's enmity for Thor, which persisted for many centuries. For example, when Thor was eight, Odin sent him to Nidavellir, the land of the Dwarves, to bid the dwarf lords Brokk and Eitri to create three treasures for Asgard's ruler. Among the three treasures that Brokk and Eitri created was the Uru hammer Mjolnir (although Loki sabotaged the creation of the hammer so that its handle was made too short by distracting the dwarven weaponsmiths). Odin bestowed various enchantments upon the hammer, including one that made it impossible for anyone to lift it except someone who was truly worthy of wielding it. Odin then declared that he was reserving the use of Mjolnir for Thor, who would receive it on the day that great deeds of selfless valor had proved him worthy of its power. (Many of the stories contradict each other. This story of the origin of Mjolnir was contradicted by other records that showed Odin wielding Mjolnir long before Thor was even born). For years, Thor strove to become physically strong enough to wield the hammer and was responsible for many heroic deeds. Finally, when Thor was sixteen, Odin sent him and his lover, Lady Sif, on a quest to teach him what was truly required to wield Mjolnir which was a pure heart. Thor became Asgard's greatest warrior. Before Thor was twenty, he had fallen in love with the goddess Lady Sif. In fact, when Sif had been kidnapped by Storm Giants and ended up as a prisoner of Hela, Thor offered his own life in exchange for Sif's freedom. The goddess of death was so impressed by the young Thunder god's nobility that she let both of them go. The romance between Sif and Thor waxed and waned over the centuries. As a Vishanti, It soon came time for Thor to choose an avatar to represent him on the mortal plane. Thor chose the Terran Germanic heroes Siegmund and his son, Siegfried. In these two roles, Thor played a major role in Odin's efforts to regain the dangerously powerful Ring of the Nibelung. The warrior Hunding killed Siegmund, but Thor chose Siegfried, the son of Siegmund and his lover Sieglinda, as his next avatar. Siegfried took possession of the Ring after killing the giant Fafnir, who guarded it in the guise of a dragon (this Fafnir is not to be confused with the Fafnir, the former king of Nastrond). James Allison stated that the tale of Siegfried battling Fafnir, and many other similar accounts, were mythical tales that originated as a pale racial memory of the battle of one of his previous incarnations, Niord, with the "worm" of the Country of the Worm. Siegfried then fell in love with the Valkyrie, Brunnhilde, but was murdered by Hagen, the son of Alberich, the dwarf who had created the Ring and placed a curse upon it. Sometime in the 9th Century AD, Thor traveled to Terra (Earth) to promote his worship among the Vikings as the Asgardians sought a more hands-on approach with Midgard. Both the Norsemen and the Germans, who called him Donar, came to worship Thor and other Asgardians. Thor actively encouraged the adulation of his Viking worshipers for years, and also encouraged them to find glory in battle. Becoming bored with Terra's inhabitants, Thor began planet hopping often spending only a century or so helping and providing for the planet's inhabitants before moving on to the next. The planets include Hostroiria, Chusiater, Iliuq, Icceon, Cunus, Xuathea, Vuxocury, Guunov, Chiea A92, Thiuq 0K, and Rugokk. Thor's time on Rugokk would soon become his undoing. When Thor would "aid" these planets, he would often create societies that hinged on his ability to control the weather, and these societies crumbled in Thor's absence. Thor led an active, adventurous life in Asgard, doing battle with Frost Giants and other enemies of the Golden Realm. Roughly around 1892 A.D., Thor's final brother, Baldur, was born signifying the coming of Ragnarok. Thor wouldn't return to Terra until 2010 A.D. when Loki sought to conquer the planet and find the Casket of Ancient Winters that was hidden there. Thor worked with Iron Man, Captain America, Falcon, Ant-Man, the Wasp, Hulk, and Captain Marvel to ward off Loki's invading forces. Finding honor among his fellow heroes, Thor decided to stay on Terra and help protect it as part of the newly formed team, the Ultimates. Thor continued to protect Midgard alongside the Ultimates until his mysterious disappearance in 2012.
>>> Restricted Information: Level 10 Clearance Only <<<
In 2012, Thor left to help defend Asgard from Ragnarok and the forces of Gorr, the god butcher but failed resulting in the total destruction of Asgard and its people. The only known survivors of Asgard are Thor and Loki who have been relocated to Seknarf-9 in accordance with the Nova Corps Endangered Species Relocation Act and Brunnhilde who has been relocated to Terra in accordance with the same act.
