Shayandarr

Some centuries ago a devastating event shook the world of Shayandarr. It crippled civilisations and ended empires, wiping out much of the world population. Those who survived did so be retreating into whatever defensive strongholds they had available, strongholds that over the decades were built up into the giant Walled Cities where the majority of Shayandarr's people now reside.

Since the Event things have settled somewhat, but the world of Shayandarr is still a dangerous place. Beyond the strongholds' great walls lies a violent and deadly land, one which few dare venture, let alone settle. Following civilisation's collapse the monster population has only exploded, their hordes roaming the vast areas between the walled cities and occupying the ruins of fallen empires.

Though a shadow of its former self, the people of Shayandarr grew accustomed to the world and a new status quo was established, until recent events have yet again thrown Shayandarr into turmoil. Dragons, long thought vanished, have returned to the land, and with them they have brought destruction. For motivations still unknown, the great creatures have set to attacking civilisation's last strongholds, breaking down their walls and burning its people. Should these fall, it could mean the end for the people of Shayandarr.
