Legend of the Aleava Fruit
As far back as the year 85,000 TN, the stories regarding the aleava fruit, an iridescent fruit born from the Starlight Tree in the Solar Fields. This tree is a known celestial tree, guarded by the three of light. The fruit is said to give off an iridescent glow while the taste changes with every bite.
Historical Basis
It is believed that only the head Oracle of the Light Oracles holds access of the true records and that all other records are variations of the tale, changing to fit with the current times. No known proof that the fruit actually exists has ever been found.
Spread
The legend is common knowledge to the people of Derelen, but there are rumors that the true story is kept secret by the Light Oracles. There are also stories of a curse that follows those who eat the forbidden fruit of the gods, told as horrifying children's tales to keep kids in line with the following the path of light.
Variations & Mutation
There are multiple variations of the legend, twisting and ever-changing with each time it is told, whether that be a small fact or a complete alteration of a character or location. The most common version is one where the fae were connected to divinity and fell from grace, cursing all mortals. Another version contains a betrayer god tricking a fae into eating the aleava fruit and becoming cursed as a stone statue that is revered in the Solar Fields as a warning to all to avoid the fruit.
In Literature
Children's books have been written, telling the various tales told across the many cultures. Sacred texts contain detailed variations and are always kept within the Herald's quarters of the Temple of Heironeous. These texts often depict a more truthful version of events, and even suggest where one can find the statue in the Solar Fields -- though this can vary depending on the version of the tale.
In Art
Paintings, stained glass, murals, sketches, etc. have been depicted of the fae girl eating the fruit or what her cursed appearance was after eating the fruit. The stained glass images are often found in the Temple of Heironeous, whereas paintings are hung up in royal palaces and sketches can be found in books and sacred texts.
