Dragon Mead

Lifeblood of the Dragonborn

Dragon mead is a delicious staple found on every dinner table within Achana or Xustoice as an import. Served in a frosted glass mug with a dragon scales design on the sides. Ranging from spicy, cool, and acidic flavors, the mead has become a favorite of dragonborns and dragons alike. The name originates from the symbolic weapon breaths of dragons, like acid, fire, and cold breath and resembles a golden amber honey color found with the avian honey. Besides being found in homes, the mead can be located in taverns.   Dragonborns originally crafted the mead as a piece of their culture, hinted at by the spicy, acidic, or icy peppers found in various biomes of the world. The spicy peppers are said to be found in hot climates, like volcanoes or desserts, whereas acidic peppers are found in swampy biomes and ice peppers can be located in the frozen mountains. While using peppers as their main ingredient, dragonborns also infused the mead with avian honey to add a sweetness to the mead. Drinking one pint of the mead grants magickal fire, cold, or acid resistance for 1d6 hours.

Flavors

Spicy Dragon Mead
The mead has a unique taste to it, reminding the drinker of home from the warmth of the honey and the flavor of the peppers. The lava pepper used for the spicy dragon mead is a weaker variant of the molten lava pepper, giving the mead a tempered heat like that of a fire-breathing dragon; most people cannot bring themselves to finish a single pint.
Frost Dragon Mead
The crystal pepper found on mountains or in the coldest regions, is used to make the frost dragon mead and mimics the coldness of a white dragon. It leaves the drinker feeling refreshed and cooled off. This version of mead is often sold during summer time or near hot desserts.
Bitter Dragon Mead
Acidic dragon mead is known for its bitter taste thanks to the drake peppers used to enhance the taste buds. Those who drink this version of the mead are reminded of black or green dragons and often remark that the taste reminds them of sour fruits and brings about the warmth of spring in their soul.

Everyday Mead

Originally, it was created in the city of Lafelune in the year 33781 TL and crafted as a simple drink for dragonborns and dragons. For other folks who lived in Lafelune found the drink to feel like home and started ordering barrels for themselves to bring to the neighboring cities and towns, where they became popular enough that they ordered barrels of their own to sell in the local taverns. Over time, the dragon mead became increasingly famous for its unique flavors and magickal properties to the point cities far and wide across Achana started ordering barrels of the mead and factories were created to keep up with demand.
