Elemental Planes

There are five different categories of elemental planes, Fire, Earth, Water, Air and Spirit. Each one draws upon on of those unique magic sources as the basis for their existence. The elemental planes are considered buffers between the Prime Planes. Each elemental element is comprised of a theoretically unlimited amount of planes. Unlike Prime Planes each of the elemental planes only draws from one elemental source of magic, it's element. For example, the 9th layer of hell is a Fire Plane. The environment and creatures that natively live there are created using fire magic as their base. Other magic usually works on planes, aside from it's magical source, although they can have varying properties based on the specific plane you are on.
