Sylithserah

The city of Sylithserah, also known as 'The Verdant Green', is the capital of Arleron and lies deep within the Zenrai'el woods. The city is built around the Aruy'El or great ancestor, an enormous leviathan tree, the boughs of which are magically shaped to form the palace of the royal Larethellon family. From this central tree, a series of wood and rope walkways radiate outwards to wooden plaza's and small buildings partly created by magically coaxing the trees in the correct shape. This means almost the entirety of the city is built high above the forest floor so the city does not stand in the way of the natural flora and fauna. A series of elevators and staircases that spiral around the trunks of the trees allows residents and visitors to move between the various levels of the city. With little natural light piercing the thick canopy, the city is eternally bathed in lamps made of carved and enchanted amber, that give off a faint warm light without the risk of causing fires. The only exception is the abundant glade, a former mountain that has been carefully and methodically shaped during the city's founding to form an enormous stone plateau the size of a small district. Packed with earth, it allows the Elves to grow crops high above the level of the forest floor. The trees surrounding the glade have been coaxed to grow away from the plateau, allowing it to be bathed in the natural light needed to grow food. A natural waterfall that drops from what remains of the former mountain proper supplies the glade with plenty of fresh water, filling irrigation canals and a large, flowing river carved out of the bedrock, before spilling over the edge of the plateau into a lake below. The abundance of sunlight and the natural beauty of the glade have also made it a popular destination for residents and visitors to take a stroll and unwind.
