Retou Bezieu
The city of Retou Bezieu is the capital city of Beaussaint and the seat of the Lord Baron. It is also known as the city of glass for the various glass manufacturers in the city and the many stained glass windows that decorate its buildings. The city lies on a relatively flat plain and takes up both shores of the Sainvoy river. On a rocky hill overlooking the city stands the gleaming palace, made of a white stone that gleams in the sunlight, and covered in elegant spires and glittering stained glass windows. The city is also known for its many luxury shops, lavish town houses, and excellent restaurants. As the seat of the Beaussaint court and the many courtiers, everything is in place to cater to their whims. Though most of the nobles own grand estates elsewhere in the countryside, most maintain a town house to remain close to the centre of courtly politics and intrigue.
Defences
The city itself is surrounded by a sturdy wall with manned towers. The palace is guarded by another ring of walls and towers, and allthough the palace itself was built favoring form over function, it does still serve as a keep.
Industry & Trade
The main manufacturing business and exports of the city is glass and glassware, which it is known for. The glassblower guild has become very influential because of it. The city is also known for housing a few renowned armorers, tailors and weavers. It also hosts various workplaces to accomodate the processing of raw goods, like wool and dyestuff.
The main imports consists of a wide range of luxury goods for the nobility from victuals to artpieces, and from pipeweed to exotic spices and more.
Architecture
The majority of the buildings are made with brick, which is then plastered over. The plaster is often painted in various bright colours or is kept white. Many of the buildings in the city also use the stained glass that is made locally.
