Order of Eventide

The Order of Eventide is a religious order in service to the god Vesper. Though relatively small, the order has chapters throughout Ussath Riel that act independantly from each other. Members of the order strive to best serve their community as teachers, guardians and healers, emulating the three great acts in service to Vesper. The order chapters will generally only act within a finite area around their base, ensuring that the relatively few members do not overextend themselves. It is a common practice, however, for young members to be sent on a pilgrimage and experience more of the world beyond the chapters' base, before returning to serve the chapter fully. The order flies a crest that bears a rowboat upon calm waters. The colours for the crest differ for each chapter to tell them apart.

Priesthood

Each chapter is run by a senior priest called a ferryman, who is chosen by the members of the chapter and who serves in this position until death. The ferryman is distinguished by a long, plain staff that resembles a ferryman's pole. The ferryman decides which other members are assigned which role, and chooses for himself who are best suited to support him. It is however common to assign the higher roles to senior members, due to the order's reverance of age - believing that those who have lived the longest are farthest on their sacred journey through life and are also closest to their god.
