Canllaw Nerys (Can-(welsh ll)-aw Ner-ees)
She is an important political figure and source of strength for the Adrefi people. She became Canllaw almost a century before the Occupation began and saw it through to now. She is approximately 500 years old, which some elves believed (at the time) was too young to become Canllaw.
She encouraged Adrefi unity despite the Tabaxi's attempts to divide them into factions based on sects and social strata. She also encouraged Adrefi to refuse to accept the lie that they were lesser than the Tabaxi or to allow themselves to be treated as less than 'human' (for lack of a better word). A lot of her sermons talked about finding strength within and forming strong communities through faith, and while the Tabaxi often accused her of supporting the Adrefi Resistance, they could never make their accusations stick.
But let me be clear here, she absolutely supported the Resistance, and every Adrefi knew it. She organized many of the Cennads and Esgobs to have them provide safe places to hide, resources, and intelligence to various Resistance cells. Officially, she just sent food, medicine and sermons to her flock to distribute to 'whoever needed it,' and the Tabaxi never broke the code in the sermons. All of the vague religious allusions were references to locations where enemies were stationed, warnings about impending attacks, and more.
Now that the Tabaxi are gone, she is easily the most beloved figure in Adref, short of the Awen themselves.
