by Nihane Alkatib

The city of Shal'Azura has been left in a state of uncertainty and anticipation following the death of its beloved Majilisun, Kassim "Relentless" Errai. For decades, Errai had been a steadfast leader, guiding the city through countless challenges and upholding its rich heritage. His passing has left a void that many are struggling to comprehend.
However, amidst the grief and questions about the future of Shal'Azura, four prominent candidates have stepped forward to vie for the vacant office. Each candidate represents one of the three major centers of knowledge in the city - the Bennain Guildhall, Taqadum School of Technomancy, and Desert Rose University. Their diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise serve as a testament to the richness and complexity of Shal'Azura's society.
First among the candidates is Gilded Artisan Marizza Sayaad from the Bennain Guildhall. A highly skilled metalworker and craftswoman, Sayaad has gained recognition beyond her peers for her intricate designs and attention to detail. Her nomination by the Bennain Guildhall signals a potential shift towards emphasizing traditional artisanship and preserving the city's cultural heritage.
Next is Rahisun Alhakim Seraphi from the Taqadum School of Technomancy. Seraphi is a renowned researcher and inventor with numerous patents and breakthroughs to his name. His focus on technological innovation and advancement reflects the growing importance of science and technology in shaping modern Shal'Azura.
Dean Almina Aruna Zephyr from the Desert Rose University hails from Shal’Azura’s First Family, representing one of two deans from their institution vying for the position. Dean Almina is known for her work on economic theory and policy, as well as her advocacy for earther-clouder equality and social justice. Her candidacy is seen by many as a bold statement towards bringing about progressive change within Shal'Azura's political landscape.
Finally, completing the quartet is Dean Cerys Inwe Lurandel from the Desert Rose University, who brings with her extensive experience in diplomacy and inter-city relations. Lurandel has played a crucial role in negotiating treaties and alliances that have secured Shal'Azura's place as a regional powerhouse over several decades. Her nomination highlights the importance of maintaining strong ties with neighboring cities and navigating increasingly complex geopolitical landscapes.
As news of these four candidates spread throughout Shal'Azura, speculation about who will ultimately succeed Errai grows louder. Some believe that Sayaad's focus on traditional values could help restore some sense of normalcy after years of rapid change under Errai's leadership; others argue that Seraphi's commitment to technological advancement could propel Shal'Azura into a new era of prosperity; while still others see Zephyr or Lurandel as champions for progressive reforms needed to address longstanding social inequalities within the city.
Despite these differing opinions, one thing remains clear: The passing of Kassim "Relentless" Errai marks a significant turning point in Shal'Azura's history, presenting both challenges and opportunities for its citizens to shape its future direction. With four such esteemed candidates vying for the office, it promises to be an election like no other, filled with passionate debates, fierce campaigns, and unexpected twists and turns along the way.
