Horn burn.

Evolution is a fickle mistress. When the Demid came to the surface they soon developed a weakness to the light in several manifestations, horn burn being one of them. With most species of Demid learning ways to protect themselves against the sun, it is an easy way to tell the culture of the Demid by the way they protect against Horn Burn.

Symptoms

Dry chalky exterior to the horns. Brittleness in the horns, and they become less flexible

Treatment

Grinding down of the horns

Prevention

Some creams help. As do horn caps, and hats or turbans

Cultural Reception

Much like a bad sunburn, Horn burn is seen as a sign of recklessness and overindulgance
Fun fact: It was a Demid who first developed sunscreen
