Lumin Serat
Lumin Serat is a senior Illuminator within the Merchantry of the Torrent. He holds no allegience to any of the Lords of Fire, but reports instead directly to the Holy Caldera via The Translucent One
Serat has been working for the Merchantry for hundreds of years. His symbiosis with the Klomerati was performed long ago, when he was but a young Bearer of the Flame within Mallius's forces. He rose quickly to Dek bearer and Mallius saw his potential and petitioned his move to be accepted as an Illuminator within the Merchantry of the Torrent.
However, when the Holy Caldera intervened, and Porculso and other Lords working against Mallius had petititoned Impetine's successful apotheosis to become a Lord herself, Lumin Serat was reminded of his higher duty to the Caldera.
Upon the Caldera's order, It was Lumin Serat who withdrew Mallius' forces from the Stonesky as Impetine sued for peace. Lord Mallius saw this as a great treachery, and has never forgiven Lumin Serat for it.
Since that crisis, Serat retired from field work and has not left The Gleaming City. Instead, the Holy Caldera retained his services, and he has been preparing himself to take on the role of the Transluscent One in the decade since the riots.
Areas once dominated by Mallius have become fragmented, and even others such as Impetine and Porculso have felt the drop in devitional energies into thero tethered Godlings. There are other rumours of forces in the desert, such as the rise of attacks from the Soulhusk Chimeras on outliying settlements.
This has all meant Serat has been ordered into the field once more.
But Lumin Serat believes this is all beneath him now, resentful that the machinations of Lords have taken him from his mediations and preparations for enlightment. Yet he finds himself once again accompanying forces loyal to Mallius into the desert, trying hard to ignore the resentful stares of the Dek Bearers that accompany him.

During the Stonesky Riots, he was initially tasked by Mallius to enforce the tithes and quell the hubris that was rife across the underground reaches of the Godswollen River, and he commanded multiple Deks of The Flaming Brand to enforce his Lord's will with a cold and calculated detachment.However, when the Holy Caldera intervened, and Porculso and other Lords working against Mallius had petititoned Impetine's successful apotheosis to become a Lord herself, Lumin Serat was reminded of his higher duty to the Caldera.

Like all Illuminators, Lumin Serat follows the strict heriarchy of devotion and tithing that form the basis of the Holy Caldera's mission. The First Contract has become his guiding text now that his own loyalty is tied directly to the Caldera themselves.
He knows what is at stake should the divine power that has been gathered within The Gleaming City should fail, and will not hesitate to kill those who have broken tithe or in hubris, placed their devotion to anywhere but the Lords of Fire and the Holy Caldera.

General Physical Condition
Lumin Serat is tall, slender and heavily Firetouched like most Mortuggurans. His skin is covered in a pattern of gleaming welts that glitter as if covered in gold dust.
His horns are long and curl around his temples in graceful spirals, and he has trained the Klomerati within him into an intricate fillagree that covers his horns and skin in an ornate lattice of silver and shing crystal.
He also adorns himself with jewelry made from metals, obsidian and pure cyrstals of Uhd - an elaborate display of wealth, but also a source of additional magic from which he can draw upon in need.

He only resorts to what he sees as crude displays of matter and energy transformation when in dire need. Instead, Serat favours the manipulation of others' wills, and the subtle employment of Ossomancy and Somaturgy to dull senses, slow wits or paralyse his opponents. Oft times, he will do this so subtley the victims are not even aware of their imparied judgement or slow reactions, and he can follow with more complicated direct maniuplation of desires, beliefs and opinions.
Those he manipulkates in such ways will often think of Serat as charming and reasonable, and it is through this that he was able to perform such deep and lasting Tithe Binding across the deserts of Ardi-Kokufa.
When pushed into open conflict, Serat has no qualms in siphoning the energy of those close enough, and can sallow enemies and allies alike in moments if the need arises.
He does not keep Blood Thralls, nor utlise Bodyservants though, believing that even a small amount of willingly given devotion is better than keeping mindless servants.

He recognises this weakness in himself, and the risk of laziness it brings, but it is a guilty pleasure he finds hard to resist.
