Mjölnir (MYOL-neer)
"A Tool with wich you can build or a weapon with which you can destroy. The choice is yours."
Mechanics & Inner Workings
Enchantments & Attributes
- Hammer of the Ivaldic Forge: Items or artifacts forged with or by Mjölnir have an innate magical ability to amplify magical attributes and any enchantments imbued into them. Mjölnir can also directly manifest simple weapons or items on command so long as enough raw material is provided and the wielder knows what they want to make from it.
- Evocation Mastery III Summoning: Mjölnir will always return to its current wielder if ever thrown or separated. The hammer, however, must physically traverse the space between it and the wielder unless another Evocation spell or technique is used to supplement this imbued attribute. Mjölnir moves as fast as its wielder can think. Wielders who can think exceptionally fast can summon it back to them much faster.
- Strike True: Mjölnir can strike any target with 100% accuracy 100% of the time, given that the wielder has direct line-of-sight on the target or has some other means of targeting.
History
Mjölnir was created by the Sons of Ivaldi (SOI) forge, a project spearheaded by the Immortal Heirs, Brokkr the Metalworker, and Sindri the Spark-Sprayer. They forged this mighty weapon with the fires of Múspellsheimr and the winds of Niflheimr into the foundry's coveted SUA.Ra-9 metal formula.
Mjölnir was used by the SOI forge to craft a myriad of weapons, armaments, blasters, starships, and enchanted items for a thousand years until the hammer was stolen by Lord Thor, one of the Princes of Ásgarðr. In the hands of Thor, the favorite son of the sitting Name of God, Mjölnir was wielded like a magical weapon of mass destruction against the Allfather's enemies.
After the Name of God was slain and his pantheon was usurped by the next Name of God, Thor was slain and the hammer fell to the possession of his sons, the Mighty Magni and Móði the Wrathful One. The brothers would share the hammer and use it to recreate Ásgarðr after its destruction with the aid of the SOI, who only demanded the return of Mjölnir as payment.
Once returned to the SOI, it resumed its rightful place in the process of building legendary artifacts. Its current location is unknown.
Significance
Mjölnir is a symbol of Ivaldic engineering genius and creativity in the realms of structure building and forging. But it is also an icon of war and violence, by which entire universes were put to the sword. Mjölnir can be a weapon or a tool, what it can create or destroy depends on whose hands it is in.
Mjölnir is the only weapon of its kind.
- Super Uru Alloy (SUA) Racrairium-09 (Ra-9): SUA.Ra-9 is an alloy classified as a URU material, primarily composed of several materials.
- Abyssal Ingot: Metals heated with the World-Destroying Flames of Múspellsheimr and cooled with the Niflheimic Winds of Winter are of the highest caliber of metal in the cosmos, immune to extreme heat and cold. However, the Abyssal Metalworking techniques are complex and difficult to perform. Additionally, when an Abyssal Ingot is crafted into a thing, it cannot be unmade.
- Ásgardian Ore: A special type of material that can be naturally mined on almost every Realm within Ásgard, exclusively. Produces high-quality steel for weaponry and armaments capable of withstanding far more punishment than Mortal metals. Provides natural defense against divine wrath.
- Cold Iron Ingot: Cold Iron is a type of metal found in realms or on planets that have been touched or consumed by the 5th Dimension. Such metal is difficult to mine and work with but is valued for its natural ability to interact with Familiars from the 5th Dimension, something normal metals cannot.
- Mental Lint: A wispy and string-like substance harvested from the Mindscape Dimension. Mental Lint is the "leftover" thoughts and minds of the collective cosmos forgotten by reality itself, allowed to slip through the cracks in existence. Harvesting Mental Lint is an extremely long and tedious process, producing very little material for hours of work. However, Mental Lint amplifies the mental capabilities of its users significantly.
- Ilmarinen Steel Ingot: Ilmarinen was a God of great forging and creation skills, steel made by his hand or the hands of his lineage can be used to significantly increase the attributes of other metals it is alloyed with.
- Yggdrasilian Timber Handle: A handle is carved from the timber of the Hyperverse (Yggdrasil) itself. It is rooted into the hammerhead and makes the weapon nigh-unbreakable. This piece of timber was still alive when forged into Mjölnir, allowing it to repair both itself and the hammerhead if damaged. It also produces Sap of Yggdrasil (SOY), a queer and esoteric substance which can be used for almost any purpose.
