"Heralds: The Chosen Avatars of Cosmic Will"

Created & Written by Khali A. Crawford

Requirements

A Herald is chosen based on their Cosmic Master’s discretion but must be approved by the Three Wise Men—Mizaru, Kikazaru, and Iwazaru. Their only universal requirement is that they must possess a SOUL, ensuring alignment with Dharma and Free Will.

Appointment

A Herald is subsumed into their Cosmic Master, merging with them on a macro level while retaining individuality on a micro level. They become an Avatar, existing both as themselves and as an extension of their Master’s will.

Responsibilities

Heralds act as instruments of their Master’s will, carrying out commands as divine agents. Though bound to their Master, they retain free will as long as their SOUL remains, allowing for some degree of autonomy in how they execute their duties.

Benefits

Heralds are not merely emissaries—they are the direct instruments of their Cosmic Masters, imbued with immense authority, resilience, and power. Their status as extensions of a higher cosmic will grant them near-untouchable privileges, yet their power remains conditional, tied directly to the will of their Master.

  • A Herald is not just a messenger or warrior—they are a living extension of their Master’s presence and decree.
  • To oppose a Herald in an official capacity is to oppose their Cosmic Master directly.
  • This makes them immune to defiance from lesser beings, as cosmic law itself often enforces their authority.
  • Those who challenge, defy, or harm a Herald on official duty risk direct retaliation from their Master, a punishment often far worse than any consequence the Herald could enact themselves.
  • Even disregarding their Power Yang boon, Heralds operate beyond mortal constraints, and their presence often demands reverence, obedience, or at the very least, extreme caution from all but the most powerful entities.
Conditional Power: The Limits of Authority
  • When acting under the direct command of their Master, a Herald has unrestricted access to their:
  • Power Yang Boon – Granting them cosmic energy manipulation, spatial-temporal influence, and celestial resilience.
  • Inherited Attributes from their Master – This can range from domain-specific abilities (such as Space Manipulation from Ouranos) to metaphysical protections (such as immunity to soul destruction).
  • Divine Authority – The universe itself may bend around them, ensuring that their mission succeeds unless countered by an equal or greater force.

If a Herald acts of their own volition, rather than under their Master’s decree, their cosmic power fluctuates unpredictably. They may lose access to their cosmic gifts entirely, or only retain a fraction of their strength, depending on:

  • The extent of their deviation from their Master’s intent.
  • Whether their Master passively allows or disallows their actions.
  • The importance of the action in the grand cosmic order.

For example, if a Herald of Ouranos chooses to battle a rogue celestial beast on their own accord, their power may be severely diminished or even absent, as they were not commanded to do so. They may still retain their intelligence, skills, and resilience, but without their Master’s direct backing, they are vulnerable to mortal danger.

This conditional empowerment system ensures that Heralds remain instruments of their Cosmic Masters, rather than independent cosmic tyrants with unchecked power.

A Herald acting outside of their Master's command is not invincible—in fact, they can be hunted, defeated, or even slain if their cosmic authority is absent. This is a crucial balancing factor, ensuring that Herald do not become cosmic-level threats when unsanctioned by their Master.

Accoutrements & Equipment

  • All Heralds are granted a boon of the Power Yang by their master to better conduct their duties.
  • Heralds receive or inherit some attribute or ability from their master.
  • Heralds are claimed by a Cosmic being and as such Lady Death nor her Deathhands can claim them, so death is meaningless to them in this capacity.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

The removal of a Herald is typically left up to the cosmic master but can be overturned by the Three Wise Men, who oversee all Heralds. When a Herald is dismissed, they are killed and what remains is absorbed back into their master forevermore.
