Eight Trigrams Furnace

Magic is Mana (Yin) (⚋) mixed with Natural/Light/Dark Energy (Yang) (⚊). Yin Cells in the body channel Mana and when infused with the Yang element, produce Magic. This energy travels along eight pathways within the body, each pathway can be composed of three parts of Yin or Yang energies which facilitate the movement of Magic. They are called the Eight Trigrams.
  1. ☰, Nature: Represents the generative force of nature, harnessing the life-giving energies of the world.
  2. ☱, Reflection: Governs introspection, mental clarity, and the ability to reflect and magnify magical power.
  3. ☲, Radiance: Embodies light and fire, providing illumination, heat, and purification.
  4. ☳, Arousing: Controls movement and the stirring of energy, initiating action and growth.
  5. ☴, Flexibility: Governs adaptability and the ability to bend and flow, making magic versatile and responsive.
  6. ☵, Abysmal: Represents water and the unseen depths, channeling emotions, hidden potential, and the unknown.
  7. ☶, Stillness: Governs stability and quietude, allowing magic to be controlled and contained.
  8. ☷, Sustenance: Represents the nurturing, supportive force that sustains life and provides energy for growth.
Mastery of the Eight Trigrams allows a mage to govern the magical energy within their body with precision, balancing the forces of Yin and Yang to create powerful magical effects while minimizing energy loss during transformation.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The Eight Trigrams Furnace is a unique artifact that can be created and used by any individual as a powerful tool. However, its true potential can only be unlocked by a cohort of eight mages, each a master of one of the Eight Trigrams. These mages, known as the Eight Great Sages, channel their collective mastery to operate the furnace at its highest capability. Each of these sages takes on a unique role based on the Trigram they control:
  1. ☰ The Head Father: The guiding force and leader of the cohort, representing nature's creative power.
  2. ☱ The 3rd Daughter Who Speaks: Responsible for the reflective aspect of magic, enhancing communication and clarity.
  3. ☲ The 2nd Daughter Who Sees: Oversees the radiant, purifying energy of the furnace.
  4. ☳ The 1st Son Who Moves: Governs the stirring of energy and initiates transformations.
  5. ☴ The 1st Gentle Daughter: Controls flexibility and adaptability, making magic responsive to change.
  6. ☵ The 2nd Son Who is in Motion: Oversees the unseen, abysmal forces, controlling emotional and hidden energies.
  7. ☶ The 3rd Son of the Hand: Responsible for stillness and the stabilization of magical forces.
  8. ☷ The Devoted Mother: The nurturing force that sustains the furnace, representing fertility and sustenance.
When these Eight Great Sages work in harmony, they can harness the full power of the Eight Trigrams Furnace, transforming it into a miraculous engine capable of performing incredible feats of magic. The Eight Trigrams Furnace can perform a variety of powerful magical processes, many of which are central to alchemical transformation and magical refinement. These processes include:
  • Purification and Refinement: Anything placed inside the furnace—whether materials or living beings—undergoes a purification process. Impurities and flaws are burned away, leaving behind a purer, stronger form. For metals, this could result in stronger, more durable alloys. For living beings, it could cleanse the body and soul, removing harmful influences or imperfections.
  • Transformation and Alchemical Change: The furnace has the power to transform base materials into more valuable or perfect forms. In the alchemical tradition, this could mean turning base metals into gold or transforming ordinary substances into potent magical reagents. Living beings who enter the furnace may emerge with heightened abilities, greater physical endurance, or even immortality.
  • Elemental Imbuement: Objects placed within the furnace can be imbued with the elemental forces of nature. A weapon might be infused with fire, water, or other elemental energies, enhancing its power and versatility in combat.
  • Immortality and Longevity: One of the most legendary uses of the Eight Trigrams Furnace is the creation of the Elixir of Immortality. Materials processed in the furnace can gain life-extending properties, turning ordinary objects into vessels of immortality or providing the drinker with exceptional longevity and rejuvenation.

Manufacturing process

Creating an Eight Trigrams Furnace requires special materials, most notably Bin Steel Ingot, a magical metal capable of altering its size and shape to suit the needs of its user. This flexibility allows the furnace to accommodate a wide range of products and processes. Additionally, the furnace can be enhanced with other magical metals and substances, further amplifying its abilities and expanding its range of capabilities.   While anyone with the knowledge and resources can construct an Eight Trigrams Furnace, only the combined mastery of the Eight Great Sages can unlock its full potential. Without their collective control over the Trigrams, the furnace operates as a powerful but ordinary artifact, lacking the miraculous transformative abilities that make it so legendary.
