Astra: Imaginary Techniques
Summoning the Astra
To summon or activate an Astra, the mage must use a specific incantation, often a complex Mantra. These Mantras are ancient, powerful chants passed down through strict, sacred lineages, such as the Guru-shishya tradition. In this tradition, a Guru (master) only imparts the knowledge of Astra’s incantation to a Shishya (disciple) after the student's moral and spiritual character has been firmly established. The secrecy surrounding these Mantras reflects the extreme responsibility that comes with wielding such immense power. Unlike regular spells or techniques, an Astra cannot simply be learned from a scroll or book. Often, the blessing of a higher deity or supernatural being is required for the Astra to be summoned, bestowing it with unparalleled destructive capabilities. Violating the conditions for summoning or using the Astra improperly can be fatal, as the cosmic forces involved are beyond normal comprehension and control. These conditions often include moral, ethical, or spiritual requirements, ensuring that only those in harmony with their Dharma may wield such power. The Mantra for an Astra is stored in a special type of scroll, the text is cast in Living Ink which constantly moves about in an unsolvable cipher. Magic or truth-seeing eyes are needed to decipher it but mere deciphering wont impart the understanding needed to cast the Astra. The Nature of Magic in Astra Creation
An Astra is a rare fusion of Ordered Magic and Khaos Magic. Ordered Magic is governed by logical structures and the mage's adherence to their Dharma. It works within defined systems, allowing a practitioner to shape reality in predictable ways through methodical processes. The creation of magical effects follows a set of principles and formulas, akin to a craftsperson using tools to shape raw materials into finished products. The essence of Ordered Magic is control, predictability, and alignment with the natural order. In contrast, Khaos Magic represents the chaotic, unstructured forces that oppose order. It is unpredictable, destructive, and inherently resistant to control. Khaos Magic seeks to dismantle reality and reduce it to its primal, undifferentiated state. When a mage attempts to impose order on Khaos, they are engaging in an act of defiance against entropy itself. While most magic practitioners avoid Khaos due to its inherent danger, those who master it can impose their will upon the otherwise formless void, bending it to their reality.Imposing Signature on Khaos
Every mage has a unique magical Signature, a personal style of casting spells, manipulating energy, and maintaining their magical arts. While the system and logic of magic remain fixed, how a mage uses these systems reflects their identity. Dealing with Khaos is the ultimate test of a mage’s control. Khaos is a "black box," where the inner workings remain unknown. To master it, a mage must imprint their Signature upon the formless energy, effectively commanding it to behave according to their will. This act of Signature imposition allows a mage to give shape and structure to Khaos, creating an Astra. Once the Astra is formed, it cannot miss its target, nor can it be evaded, as the chaotic nature of Khaos ensures that the weapon bypasses normal rules of engagement. The Astra becomes a manifestation of the mage's will and imagination, operating on a level of reality far beyond conventional magic.Mechanics & Inner Workings
