Upper Kaldanar's Aristocratic Faction

In the avarian kingdom of Upper Kaldanar, appearances are everything. Even if those appearances are a lie.

The current ruler of Upper Kaldanar is Queen Zyronia, a fierce queen whose line is that of a thunderbird. Her feathers shimmer like silver and gold with small bolts of lightning crackling throughout them. As with all sacred lines, they are part of the royal faction due to when the country was founded, it was said only those of a sacred line could become the King or Queen. Against them and a spokesgroup for the common people would be the aristocratic faction.

The aristocratic faction is a group of nobles that have climbed their way up the social ladder with keen intellect and vast wealth. These nobles have taken it as their duty to be the council of the crown since even if someone is of a royal line, it does not mean they are suited to rule. The aristocratic faction has kept the crown in check for decades and their power is only growing since the sacred lines have been fading away one by one and the current queen has neither husband nor heir.

With no husband or heir and no sacred line to take the throne after the current queen, many commoners expect the aristocratic faction to take the throne next. Which of course will be brought to no issue by them since the aristocratic faction has always tried to be forthcoming regarding their intentions and the happenings of the court of nobles.

Behind the scenes, even the parts of the world the insane dare not go to also follow these lines of succession. The aristocratic faction has been behind many accidents that just so happened to kill many of the sacred lines so that there would be no more heirs to the throne. They tried once before to take the throne by murdering the previous King, King Draumr, and placing one of their own faction, Riddans, in his place as Queen Hibania’s partner. As was required, Queen Hibania did bear a child from Riddans who is now Queen Zyronia, however the plans of the aristocratic faction were put on hold by how solid Queen Hibania’s foundations were and by how strong willed Queen Zyronia is. They have no intention on continuing their plan, no matter what they must do. But the commoners do not need to know that.
