Swamps of Rinu

Rinu is the twin continent of Ranu. Rinu and Ranu are often viewed as two sides of a coin. In Ranu, there are beautiful meadows, lush floral plains, and an overall loveliness that is befitting of the fae who call Ranu home. Rinu is riddled with gnarled trees, poisonous mires, and an overarching vendetta against all who try to claim it as their home. The swamps are often said to have a mind of their own and have a bad habit of moving. The towns, if you can call them that, are scattered houses on stilts that are connected by scrap wood, which is typically the remnants of older houses or what used to be of them. It is not uncommon for someone to wake up and their house no longer be anywhere near their town or they suddenly find themselves sinking into the bayou or the mud pits which can almost be considered predatory in how many lives they claim.

The inhabitants of the Rinu swamps are rough around the edges and quick on their feet, lest they be swallowed whole by the swamps. The inhabitants must be prepared for anything and are shaken by little. With a daily life of exploding fungus, vines that will snatch you into the canopy, and predatory trees hiding amongst the normal flora, there is not much that will surprise the long time residents of Rinu.

In more recent years the region has calmed down due to a circle of local dria, a people that are the spirits of the trees, using their magic to lull the angry terrain to sleep. Even with their assistance, there are some parts of the country that many dare not wander into, but it does help some areas become safe enough to even raise children in and that is where most of the inhabitants of Rinu reside. These safe areas are usually around the base of the dria's trees and the people there worship the dria as their guardians. They bring offerings for the dria and go out of their way to ensure the dria's trees, which is their lifeline, is safe so that they may continue to calm the lands in peace.
