Shikodori's Origin
Shikodori was a white kitsune born with eight tails. His white fur showed both his power and bloodline as proof of the most powerful type of kitsune and of his royal lineage. When he was young, he was the strongest kitsune in the world until his younger sister was born with nine tails. He was jealous that his sister had been born with nine tails and that hatred only grew as they both got older. He wanted a ninth tail, but he knew he would never have one since only one nine tailed kitsune can exist at a time.
One day the sky grew dark, the winds became unbelievably harsh, and the waters became torrents constantly rushing onto land like small tsunamis. Shikodori went towards the epicenter of this massive storm and saw two massive serpents fighting each other. It took all of his strength to stay alive as he watched their fight from a distance until finally one of the serpents dealt the killing blow to the other. The dead serpent let out a screech that shook the water, ground, and sky itself before its body faded away into starlight and a massive crystal heart fell into the ocean once the body was gone.
Shikodori waited for the other serpent to leave before he braved the waters and found the crystal in the depths, lighting its surroundings like a miniature sun. The crystal hummed with power and all of the surrounding waters swirled around it as if it were a riptide of grief. Shikodori made a small window in the torrent to jump through and got close to the crystal.
Just being near it, he felt all of his magic be replenished in an instant. Without hesitation he broke the crystal, taking a large part of it for himself. The torrent of water stopped and Shikodori looked to his tails. He placed the shard at the base of his tails and merged it with himself. As he did so, an incredible surge of power ripped through him. After the initial surge faded, he realized the shard was fully integrated with himself and acted as a ninth tail. Shikodori looked back to the rest of the crystal with a wicked smile, but the rest of the crystal shards quickly dispersed like shooting stars, going far beyond his reach.
Shikodori returned to the surface with his newfound ninth tail and his mind raced with thoughts that all culminated in that only one nine tailed kitsune could exist at a time, and he was going to make sure it was him. When he returned home, he killed his sister and their parents, the king and queen of the kitsune, then took over the kitsune city as a tyrant. He reveled in the power his ninth tail brought him along with being the tyrant king that no one dared disobey, but it was not enough. He wanted more power and he was going to stop at nothing to get it.
Shikodori left the kitsune forest and explored the world to hunt down the crystals that flew away from him. Along the way he gathered strong people to go with him, be they coming willingly or not, and he found the massive serpent that left the battle alive. With Shikodori’s power along with his group, they managed to kill the serpent. Shikodori quickly captured the entire crystal heart of the serpent before it could dart away and he gave each of his group members a shard of the serpent’s heart, which made each of them surge in power just as he had.
Shikodori and his group then hunted the other serpents, but the dying cry of one of the serpents cursed Shikodori and his companions, blackening their souls and turning them into demons and giving each of them a curse that would give them eternal misery. Afterwards, Shikodori became known as The Demon King and his companions became known as the Demon Princes.
