Sharlahka Horseshoes

There is a large caravan called Sharlahka that wanders the great plains of lower Kaldanar, which is rolling hills and scattered trees as far as the eye can see. The caravan is led by Midins, a golden equari, who finds joy in the simple life and traveling, sharing songs and stories from whomever they meet to wherever they go. The caravan mainly consists of equari, but all races are welcome to join them, even the carnivores. As long as one is willing to pull their weight in some fashion, such as keeping an eye on any of the children in the caravan, accepting tasks of collecting wood or hunting or mending clothes, anyone is welcome to stay. The caravan moves every few weeks, with no set destination in mind except maybe near a town or city when they are low on supplies, and travels with a long succession of carriages, wagons, people on horseback, and people walking on foot.

Many towns welcome these nomads as they bring goods from other cities, items they have personally made, as well as the opportunity for plenty of coin to be made. When at a town or city, the Sharlahka set up an encampment outside the town where they will stay until they leave. All who wish to purchase their goods will come to the encampment. Those who have goods to sell will set up their carriages nearest to the entrance of the town so that villagers will not have to travel too far and the rest of the encampment will not be disturbed by the influx of people.

The goods the Sharlahka sell are spices and herbs they have collected between cities or bought at other locations; wood trinkets such as totems, utensils, and other various carvings; jewelry made from shells, vines, flowers, and semi-precious stones collecting throughout their travels; paintings of locations or portraits of people they pass by or see as inspiration. There is also the near infinite amount of random bits and ends that end up traveling along with them. The Sharlahka also semi act as a postal service, bringing packages from one town to another along their route.

While many would normally worry about sending their packages along with a caravan, the caravan ensures the safety of the package and all traveling with them. Midins is a well known and retired mercenary that not many would dare to mess with. The core of the Sharlahka are her and her old mercenary group that decided to live the simple, traveling life instead. Their strength also attracts many young mages and martial artists to their caravan who wish to learn from the legendary Midins and her equally famous companions.

Due to the large amount of equari in the group, horseshoes, or something adjacent to horseshoes for the non-centaur equari, are a very popular item. They protect the hooves of the equari and many have gotten creative with the stylings of their shoes. The horseshoes no longer fit to be worn are either melted down or used decorations or games. There is also that there are many who wish to own even just one of Midins old horseshoes
