Demon War and the Demon Prison
The Demon King Shikodori killed those both in his path and not. Shikodori hunted all of the gods that arose from the serpents being killed and ushered in an era of his rule on every corner of the world. The Demon King Shikodori’s reign of terror lasted for centuries undisturbed until new gods began to appear. The new gods stayed in hiding being protected by the old gods that managed to survive. The first of the new gods to officially appear would be Arashi no Shokenji who became known as the God of Lightning and God of Horses. Arashi found the other gods of his generation and protected them while helping their abilities flourish. Over time, Arashi’s group became the only force strong enough to fight against Shikodori and his Princes.
The power of the new gods leveled the field and began to push back against Shikodori, which led to many of the countries and their people to be free from his rule as Shikodori retreated. However, like with any beast that is cornered, Shikodori lashed out at whatever he could and with the help of Prince Daetal triggered wars all throughout the world to keep the new generation of gods distracted. One of these wars was the war between the Draconids of Vulca and the Lunarians of Zanna. The two races and countries had always been on turbulent terms with each other but enough sparks led to a bonfire. The draconids brought their elite fighting force and the peak of their race, the Zernox, to Zanna and nearly made the Lunarians go extinct. The Radiant King, God of the Sun and God of Healing, who is both demon and zernox, drove off the Vulcari army and healed all those who were still alive, even if just hanging on by a thread.
On the other side of this conflict, one of Shikodori’s main generals, The Reaper, God of Death, turned on him and severely injured Shikodori by devouring a portion of his soul and draining most of his lifeforce. Shikodori fought off The Reaper and placed him into an illusionary dimension before he fled into hiding. The Reaper soon escaped from the illusionary dimension and joined forces with the new gods to create a way to trap Demon King Shikodori. With this intention in mind, the Demon Prison came to be. Its intention was to create an alternate dimension to house Shikodori until it could be researched on how to forcefully remove shards from a god, such as with Shikodori’s ninth tail.
Very few were warned ahead of time, such as The Iron Lady, Goddess of Order, who was also a demon but, like many demons, did not wish to follow the Demon King or his Princes. The makers of the spell, Stormcharger God of Lightning, The Blacksmith God of Swords, The Shifter God of the Moon, The Reaper God of Death, and The Radiant King God of the Sun all had a guess that trying to cast this spell to pull in Shikodori may also pull in others. They did not realize just how many it would pull until after the spell was cast.
Much like a magnet, in order to forcefully attract such a large magnet, many of the small magnets were pulled as well. The Demon Prison was formed and dragged most of the demons in the world into it, putting them into a mirror of the original world that was always cast in a dusky twilight. The Iron Lady worked quickly to organize those were pulled in and made a deal with her at the time husband, Demon Prince Sanohm, in order for him to build a city for the displaced demons to settle in until they were ready to move on their own.
This first city became named Blackhaven and is still the largest city in the Demon Prison. Prince Sanohm designed a castle for Demon King Shikodori to reside in, which happened to be far from the common people. The other princes ended up going their own ways, some seeking to travel, others exploring what they once used to do. Shikodori has been silently waiting for a chance to break the Demon Prison, but it became more difficult after The Warden, God of Shadow, became the gatekeeper for the Demon Prison’s only connection to the original world.
