Demon King's Progeny
The Demon King Shikodori is a well known figure as a tyrant that destroyed anything in his path but this wouldn’t have been possible without the Demon Princes. They are not related by blood, but he took them in whether they wanted to or not and they became his accomplices in his quest for supremacy.
One of the unwilling companions of the Demon King Shikodori is Sanohm Krudozeic, God of Desire, who is also known as Frostfang and is the exiled prince of the fae. He was one of the first that Shikodori entrapped as a compatriot in his quest to hunt the world serpents, which led to Sanohm and the others in their group to be forcefully made into demons and cursed for eternity on the dying breath of a world serpent. Sanohm, along with his companions, became known as the Demon Princes. Much to his displeasure, he was also forced to marry The Iron Lady Virdana, Goddess of Order.
Despite the common belief of Sanohm’s title as God of Desire, his title is based off of the curse he received, which revolves around curiosity. His desire does not pertain to the desires of the flesh, but for the intense want for knowledge. Over many centuries with his curse, he has learned nearly everything there is to learn, which is why he was paired with Lady Virdana. Sanohm's curse prevents him from sleeping. The only time he sleeps is when he is injured and he goes into a coma. Whenever a thought crosses his mind that he does not know the answer to, it will not leave his mind and will slowly take over his mind with the thought of only that until it drives him insane unless he finds out the answer. With him being unable to sleep, his mind has all hours of the day and night to think of different things he may not know. Even when he is in a coma, he is still able to think perfectly well which often leads to him waking up and already being in a fit of madness since he had no choice but to ruminate over things he was unable to find answers to.
Upon the creation of the Demon Prison, Virdana gave Sanohm the deal that they would divorce if Sanohm became the lord of the first city in the Demon Prison, which came to be known as Blackhaven. Sanohm took the job as quickly as he could so that he could divorce her, and even two hundred years, and several mountains of paperwork later, he still does not regret that decision.
Under Lord Sanohm’s rule, Blackhaven is the largest city in the Demon Prison while also having the lowest crime rate, lowest poverty rate, and most advanced technology. There are many other large cities in the Demon Prison spread throughout the entirety of this alternate world, but none are as grand as Blackhaven itself. Many demons see Blackhaven as the gem of the Demon Prison and take pride in it while also respecting and fearing Prince Sanohm who undoubtedly owns the city.
While also managing to create a thriving metropolis from nothing, Sanohm also wrangled the other Demon Princes into their own territories and castles, making them at least content with being in the Demon Prison. He also worked to build a castle good enough to satisfy Demon King Shikodori, despite his imprisonment. For this, Prince Sanohm is also seen as the mediator between the Princes and the normal demons.
Arceros Krudozeic who is Sanohm’s older brother, and formerly the Crown Prince of the Fae, went with Sanohm out of concern for his brother when Shikodori dragged Sanohm to be a subordinate. He received his curse from the serpent, even though he did not participate in killing the serpents. His curse is similar to Sanohm in that it causes madness, but his is based off of bloodlust instead of curiosity. The madness gnaws at his mind constantly, and the sight of blood accelerates it. When the madness wears him down, he has a very high chance of going into a berserker rage and slaughtering every living creature in the vicinity.
When he blacks out, he commits genocide as a hobby and revels in every drop of it. Once he finishes blacking out, the madness resets to normal levels and he regains his sanity until the bloodlust is triggered again, but he has no memory of what he did while he was in the state of madness. When he had his sanity fully before the curse, he was very sweet, kind, and friendly to the point people thought he was a pacifist. Even if he did get into a fight with someone, he would heal them afterwards. The one time he did manage to regain his sanity fully after the curse was due to falling in love with a woman, but the curse stripped his sanity away again and he ended up killing her along with all her people. As with his blackouts, he has no recollection of this. Sanohm found Arceros and took him from the scene before he awoke and now keeps Arceros close by to ensure his madness isn’t triggered again. Though that did not prevent Arceros becaming known as The Blood King, God of Carnage.
Another companion that was brought along unwillingly due to his impressive prowess in magic (and, oddly enough, tap dancing) would be a satyr named Sikonoc. He is known as The Midnight Ram and the God of Lust. He could clear armies with a simple wave of his hand, tear apart advance and ancient spells in a matter of seconds, and is able to pull even the oldest magics together at a speed incomprehensible to mages that use elemental magic.
Just like with all the companions of Shikodori, Sikonoc was also cursed. One part of his curse is that he has an insatiable libido. He can never be satisfied no matter how much he is with someone or how good it felt. The other part is that he is very fertile, but none of his children ever come to full term or they pass shortly after their birth. Before his curse, he had a son that he cherished very much, but the son was killed. He would genuinely love, dote on, and care for all of his children and their mothers, no matter how many he had, but he's forced to constantly go through his children dying again and again.
One companion that initially willingly went with Shikodori would be Nikadora who became known as the Diamond Queen, Goddess of Greed. She was a sirisi of a high caste from a long line of merchants. Her scales shined like gold and her skin glittered as if she was covered in gold dust, she was the treasure of her family for both her beauty and intellect. Even before her age had reached double digits, she was already assisting her family’s mercantry with excellent business acumen.
Once she became an adult, Shikodori sought her out for her usefulness in business as well as her renowned abilities with metal related magicks. She knew nothing of what he had done when they had met, so she went with her. To her horror, she was forced to be there when they killed the serpents, which the sirisi revere as the most perfect beings and worship them above all else. Just like the rest, she was cursed for this transgression.
Nikadora loved someone dearly before she was cursed. The next time she saw her lover after she was cursed, he died on the sunset of the seventh day after they saw each other again. She mourned him until at the sunset of the next seventh day, her emotions were stripped from her. Her lover is constantly in a cycle of being reincarnated and would come back across the veil more often than most would in their cycle. In each turn of his with no specific age, he would meet Nikadora again. Each time they meet, Nikadora’s emotions return and again, he will die on the seventh day and her emotions will be stripped from her again on the seventh day after his death.
During her times of no emotion, she tries to fill the hole in her heart by hoarding anything of value, but she quickly grows dissatisfied with her hoard and will go on a trade of collecting and hoarding anything she finds until she is satisfied with her hoard again while trying to stay as far away from new people as possible for fear she would meet her lover again and end up with him dying again because of her.
As with any group, there must be one to make the food. The one tasked with this would be Dimi Sartesc, a famous chef known for his ability to cook and his breadth of knowledge regarding ingredients, especially rare and not commonly used ingredients. Some compared his cooking to alchemy, especially in the case of using monster parts but also that the food he cooked sometimes had effects like magic or potions. The only thing this gourmet loved more than food would be his wife.
Shikodori had Dimi travel with the group but Dimi only agreed if his family could come with him, which Shikodori begrudgingly agreed to. Dimi did not care much about killing the serpents but he did quite enjoy being able to travel and explore new ingredients. Inevitably, Dimi received his curse. His curse made him only able to eat souls and drink blood. Anything else will make him throw up until there is nothing in his stomach. The souls are rather optional, but if he goes too long without blood, he will go into a feeding frenzy. He has since become a fan of torture and adores ripping someone to shreds then draining them of their blood while they are still alive.
Horror stories of Dimi only became more widely known once he had a set of triplet sons who came to be Satho the God of Impurity, Verro the God of Corruption, and Delo the God of Depravity with Dimi’s own title being Soulmonger, God of Debauchery.
One of the princes was taken prisoner by Shikodori. Devida, known as Reflection the God of Vanity, is also a kitsune and has seven tails. Devida is not a pure kitsune like Shikodori so he is far stronger than your average kitsune with seven tails, thus Shikodori saw him as a threat. Devida was skilled in illusions as well as using both light and shadow magic simultaneously or a near flawless magical offense and defense. He has a nasty attitude that takes pleasure in manipulating others.
Devida is a man whose appearance matters more than anything and who tells lies as easily as water flows through the rapids of a river. He uses his ability to stitch and his illusion magic to change his looks as he pleases to the most perfect visage. His curse is that every time he tells a lie, a part of him changes and warps into something he can not hide no matter how much magic he uses. The severity and duration of the change depends on the depth of the lie. Such as a white lie would make his hair frizzy for a few hours, which more severe lies resulting in warts, wrinkly skin, and disfigured body parts to the point of a complete appearance change that could last for weeks.
Vyradin was an upstanding night that adored helping others and was equally adored by the people. His healing abilities were unmatched by even the best healers in the world. His only flaw was that his feathers and skin were naturally poisonous, but he could always outheal it with his magic. Shikodori brought Vyradin into the group through unsavory methods and kept him in the group with blackmail, mainly against Vyradin’s wife.
When Vyradin became cursed, his ability to heal was corrupted and every time he tried to heal someone, it poisoned them instead. As a protector, it broke his heart to not be able to help anyone the way he used to. The armor that was blessed with light magic at the time was corrupted along with his sword. Any who wield the armor and the blade will have their minds also corrupted to madness, which led to many dying from the items he used to protect people with. What completely broke his will was that with his healing ability cursed, it enhanced how poisonous he was and his wife died from his natural poison as they slept. He is a broken man, but he still acts as the mediator for the princes and the gods. He also teaches those in the Demon Prison how to heal others if they show the aptitude for it as well as protecting those who can not protect themselves, even if he can no longer heal them. Because of this, Vyradin is known as The Knight, God of Balance and is well respected by all, even those who are not demons.
Of the princes, there was one who was all too happy to join Shikodori on his conquest. Daetal is known as The Masked God, God of War. Even before he was cursed, he had an insatiable bloodlust and desire to kill all. He used ability to change into whatever humanoid creature he has seen before in order to spread rumors, cause chaos, incite wars, and whatever else he could to cause the most bloodshed. During battles between two opposing sides, he would change into people from both factions so he could shred all of them apart as he pleased.
Daetal’s curse is that he can not directly kill or harm someone. Every time he tries, he is physically unable to do so, no matter how much he desperately wants to. For a mass murderer that craves nothing before than to feel someone’s bones crunch beneath his fists and their blood run down his arms, this curse was nearly excruciating to him and drove him to go more mad than he already was. He began to kill in any way he possibly could, regardless of methods. All he wanted was someone to die.
Steel also went with Shikodori willingly. Steel is known as the Breaker of Blades, God of Contest. He has a few screws loose, but he genuinely is not a bad man. He joined the Demon King Shikodori because he believed that he would be able to meet strong opponents who would always give him a challenging fight, and this did prove quite true until he was cursed by the world serpents. Steel’s curse is that whenever he crosses swords with someone, their blade will shatter no matter the quality or material. Magic used against him is negated as soon as it comes within a foot of him. If someone tries to attack with hand to hand combat, the attacker always slips and misses their attacks.
Steel decided to channel his rage at not being able to have a good fight into hunting for a way to break the curse so that he may have an actual fight again, even if it is against an insect, since even insects and beasts instinctively avoid him due to the curse.
Viyana is known as Widowmaker, Goddess of Poison. After Steel saved her from a rather unsavory place, the two have been nearly inseparable and that became the case again when Steel joined Shikodori’s forces. Viyana is a peerless expert at poisons and curses. She has a very inquisitive and experimental nature and several of her accidental creations became known as “The Blights”, each of which are widely feared. While good at making poisons, she was equally good at making potions which helped others. Both she and Steel were the guardians of their mountain home along with the villagers that stayed there under the care of their protectors. Viyana’s curse is that anything she makes is poisonous, regardless of what it is intended to be. Healing potions, food, even crafts all turn out poisonous.
One who was roped into the group to be a record keeper, would be Astilok. He is known as The Traveler, God of the Lost. Punctuality is king to Astilok. He tolerates tardiness from no one, not even the Demon King Shikodori. As such, the only fitting curse would be, to put simply, chronodisphoria. The curse forces him to travel through time at random intervals without warning. He has been to the far future and the far past and back again. He never knows to what time period he will go or how long he will stay there. Though over the years he has noticed that it tends to trigger when he plans a date for something and that it will send him to a time where he just missed an event.
