Dark Magic Crystals

Dark magic itself is toxic and corrosive to anything and everything it touches, which also includes its practitioners. Continuous use of dark magic warps one's mind, body, and soul beyond recognition as the magic itself goes against the natural order of the world. No one knows how dark magic originally came to be, but it is widely known one of the main methods to utilize it is sacrifices of beings with high quantities of magic and forcing them into a form of magic that even those not sensitive to magic can wield.

The primary practitioners of magic are humans that believe the world needs to be purified of the unholy creatures that plague their world. There is a particular group that hunts these beings they deem as creatures and will slaughter all those in their way while bringing back the ones with high amount of magic in order to make themselves stronger for the next hunt.

With that twisted ideology in mind, what they deem as an unholy creature is someone that may have horns, or someone with ears a little too point or teeth a little too sharp with a particular distaste for other beings the less human they look, such as with sirisi, draconids, fae, gemodrice who can all take on more exotic forms and even nishi, lyca, and auxilo who look primarily human in their appearance, but because they are not humans, they are targets by this group.

Several centuries ago this group slaughtered a village in Rinu and obtained the ire of the one who would become known as The Radiant King, God of the Sun and God of Healing. Due to the unnatural stench of their dark magic, The Radiant King hunts them down even if they are miles away and nearly hunted their group to extinction. The group, in an attempt to hide from The Radiant King, made crystals from the magic of sacrificed celesi, who are blessed by the celestials and the direct opposite of dark magic. The celesi crystals mask the dark magic scent and it was later found out that it slows down the dark magic corrosion from continuous use of dark magic.
