Blackwing Mercenaries

The Blackwing Mercenaries were led by a soldier named Lux Porteir from the avarian city of Kraya. There was no beast this group could not hunt. The Blackwing Mercenaries were originally a group that hunted beasts for the sake of protecting nearby towns and villages, but their legend grew exponentially when the group disappeared then would appear wherever there was a high bounty on a beast to hunt. The beasts they hunted were not limited to their home country but every country and thus every biome that could have beasts. Deserts with sand as far as the eye can see, a land of volcanic ash where the ground crackles and ebbs with magma just below the surface, man-eating swamps with predatory trees, jungles with trees so tall you can not see the canopy, mountains so high they pierce the clouds.

The Blackwing Mercenaries appeared in all these locations and more and always hunted their mark with success, be it a vicious undead amphithere with a stinger at the end of its whip-like tail that contains a potent paralytic poison along with its tusks that burrow into solid stone, a massive wasp with eight legs whose stinger could necrotize an entire body within seconds as it bursts out of the sand it lays in wait in, a fearsome jungle cat with two shadow swarmed tails who can jump through shadow rifts and fully cover its presence with its shadow magic, or even an aquatic beast the length of a ship whose jaws could destroy a house on the shore in one snap of its jaws before it returned to the water.

After several years of answering the call of every bounty for a dangerous beast, the Blackwing Mercenaries disappeared entirely and no one has heard anything about them since, not even their own families.
