The Celestial Bodies
The Celestial Bodies are a set of five artifacts, relics from the end of the war against the outsiders. Each orb contains the essence of one of the four outsiders, while the fifth orb, the Orb of the Earth, contains the essence of the traitorous god of ambition.
Orb of the Sun
The Orb of the Sun contains the divine spirit of the lord of fiends. A tactical mastermind and unmatched warrior, the fiendish armies sweeping the land were unstopable. However, deprived of their lord, they quickly began fighting among themselves and were turned back.Orb of the Moon
The counterpart of the Orb of the Sun, the Orb of the Moon is the prison of the mistress of fiends. Clever, scheming, and boundlessly cruel, her children would infiltrate the forces of the mortals, spreading discontent, spying on secret plans, and assassinating key targets. She was the last of the outsiders to be bound.Orb of the Stars
The Orb of the Stars binds the hivemind spirit of a bizarre race of alien lifeforms. The eldritch beings, ranging from mindflayers to star spawn, were once connected by a unified will. Their combined power could not be matched by any mortal beings. However, once their hivemind was bound and silenced, they became significantly weaker and retreated back into the darkness they crawled from. They still seek the orb, but without a unified will, they can't agree about what to do with it once they get it.Orb of the Void
The Orb of the Void contains the divine spirit of Nalrek'alor, the first necromancer and lich-god. The power to bind the spirits of the dead is granted to whoever wields the orb. But Nalrek'alor is a fickle god; they slowly sap the spirit of the orb's wielder as well. It is unknown what they do with the spirits of the would-be necromancers, but death is patient.Orb of the Earth
The god of ambition imprisoned in the Orb of the Eath was the first divine spirit to be imprisoned in an orb. The Orb spent many long years kept with the grave offerings at Hirn Moldir, thought to be the gates of the Dwarven afterlife. However, it was recovered by an amibitious yet ill-advised band of dwarves who were seeking to rebuild their clan. Their possession of the Orb of the Earth drew monsters and fiends to their new home in the Serpent's Spine, until they were wiped out. The orb reamined clutched in the dead king's hands until recovered by a clueless adventurer whose prodding into it's inner working awoke Ambition once again.
