The Legend of the Lightlined

The Legend of the Lighlined is a collection of tales, songs, and even art depictions that all relate to the same legendary child who is believed to one day become the Lightlined, the one who will bring a new life to the cursed land of Vakor.   This legend lives by word of mouth and it is spread all throughout Vakor even though the king, Raxas Lukal, explicitly forbid any such activity. It is said that Raxas himself was the only one who heard the prophecy of the Lightlined, but many believe this cannot be true, as someone else must have heard the prophecy, possibly even at the same time as Raxas. For the Beset King Raxas would never reveal if he heard it, yet the legend was made and lives to this day.   The Lighlined lives in the hearts of many and many await the Lighlined's arrival.   The two most common legends that mention Lighlined are presented below.

The Tale of Lightlined

The child was born in between night and day
Fate screamed in deathly horror of dismay
A child of Vakor born as two at once
Whose story more than a mere happenstance
A blood curse set across the Vakor land
When father wrought death ‘tis death that stayed
As ashen soil to steal life of all men
‘Til the child returns with blade and glen
But trapped the child remains, unborn again
The youth of misery is spent in vain
At once the child will break free and unbind
Known will be forever by name of Lightlined

The Soldier's Yearning - a song

Our land is ill, our faces grim
No morning still, not even dim
For we must wait the war to pass
Our strength is hard and made to last
When drums were struck the last time
We lost it then, our hands, our pride
We lost it all, our home, our men
Forgotten fell for this cursed land
Yet here we are forlorn from yore
We wait return of the sacred sword
And we will not for nothing die
When we give our lives for Lightlined
