Machihattun
Deep in the heart of the jungle, the town of Machihattun is found in the trees. Construction in the canopy prevents the use of stone for homes. Dwelling in tree homes protects against many threats in the jungle. Fortunately for the inhabitants of the town, Der’Machi protects his followers who pay tribute. In spirit with worship of Der’Machi, community is extremely important to the people of Machihattun. Multiple dwellings are constructed on most trees, so that family are as close as possible to help one another. This is also essential construction due to traverse between tree platforms generally being done via swinging on ropes. While this does largely confine the young and infirm to home, family and friends frequently visit or assist with travel. Much of the food comes from the trees themselves, with nets lowered to the fruit trees below. Many canopy platforms have gardens on them, as well as the roof of every canopy level home. Such cover also helps the tree homes blend in to the canopy, avoiding the notice of aerial predators.
The town is led by a man who greatly resembles Der’Machi. Chief Miconi is a towering and muscular man. He is an imposing figure, and the people he rules over have found his nature to be overwhelmingly patriarchal in nature. Miconi sees the people he rules over as his children to protect, care for, and teach. Any who would threaten the safety and well-being of his people have discovered first-hand the primal ferocity present in him.
