Amaruappa
Located in the middle of the Swamp of Fangs is the town of Amaruappa. Founded in tribute to the apex snake, the influence of the acolytes of Der’Amaru is heavy. While other towns in Ondar construct their dwellings from stone, wood is still used in Amaruappa. Followers of the snake believe his hunger should be stated as he wishes, and as such forbids solid structures that might keep him at bay. Wood from the swamp land is used in the creation of wooden walkways which serve as the roads. Dwellings make use of furs, skins, and intricate weaving to denote the standing of the owner. It is the weaving skill of the people that brings any outsiders to the dangerous town for trade. Most food is provided by hunting parties, supplemented by rice farms and trade.
Amaruappa is ruled by Chief Kirchala. She has only just come to lead the people, passing the Ritual of Might in the town as an outsider. Kirchala is described as both agile, devious, and more unusual for chieftains of the town: beautiful. Having lived in solitude in the swamplands, her rule in the time to come has many watching curiously. The acolytes of Der’Amaru serve the chief as enforcers in the town, who rules more absolutely than in most other settlements. Outsiders do note the risk inherent in ruling Amaruappa, as poisoning is quite common as a means of advancement.
