The Golden Horde are a renegade astartes warband that currently resides within the sub-sector. Reports of its existence extend as far back as M32 in the Segmentum Pacificus. However they are reported to occupy the sub-sector in M37 after driven there by the Emperor's Maul astartes chapter. Believed to be the lost successor chapter of the White Scars, the Sun Striders, they have mastered the art of hit and run raids and piracy to terrorize the whole of the sub-sector.

While a good section of the senior coterie still lives to wreak havoc in imperial space, most are elevated through the strongest slaves taken in raids or promising pirates and renegades within the sub-sectors many hidden places. Most of these recruits are first taken to act as the leaders of cannon fodder, and those that survive both the enemy and their charges are considered ruthless enough to become one of the horde.
