Ornis's Folly
A large nebula to the outward side of the sub-sector. Named after one of the noted ancient explorers of the Seelen Stream, none are quite sure what particularly led to the title. While sitting outside Imperial jurisdiction the minimal interstellar traffic and limited resources of the nebula itself have led it to more a lawless frontier space rather than any den of concentrated piratical, xenos, or heretical threats and largely ignored by the wider sub-sector.
Geography
A large if unremarkable nebula. Ornis Folly's main composition tends to be Oxygen, Hydrogen, Helium, Silica, Iron, Nickle, Nitrogen, and Argon. As a dark nebula it sits largely lightness from the nearby star systems and only fully visible from the inward side of the Seelen Stream.
History
Ornis's Folly was discovered within a century of discovery of the Seelen Stream. No one is quite sure of the naming but some historigraphica scholars expect Ornis to have been searching for something specific within the nebula like exploitable gasses or elements and found it lacking.
With its out of the way nature, Ornis's Folly has been largely ignored by all parties in the sub-sector. This has led to it being a final escape of sorts for the dispossessed and the desperate of the sub-sector. Eking out a living within the nebula has contributed to cultivating piratical activity however as the poor residents of the floating ramshackle amalgams of ships try to extort supplies from lost ships in the void. This poverty protects it however as it largely makes it ignored by the wider and more malicious threats of the sub-sector.
