Nemesis Starport

Originally the traditional waypoint for travelers to both enter and exit the sub-sector through the Thetus mandeville point since the Dark Age of Technology, the Nemesis Starport was significantly bolstered by Imperial forces after Waaargh Zapp Smasha' threatened to bypass the sub-sector to the vulnerable systems beyond in the galactic interior. Over the millenia it has seen significant and sporatic growth and currently acts as the main port of call for the Seelen Battle Fleet's coreward Strike Group.

Government

While officially under the purview of the Administratum, they are only one voice on a council of three that oversees the larger decisions for the starport. The other two seats are filled by a representative of the Seelen Battlefleet and of the rotating delegate of the various merchant guilds and clans operating within the sub-sector. The later routinely being in constant gridlock with the Administratum given their interests usually conflict on everything from port bay access to authorizations of exotic cargo.

Defences

A truly imposing structure, the starport boasts at least three consecutive void shield layers encompassing the whole of the station. This is then combined with the stations initial ancient designs of initial protection being substantial armor plating. Some is recorded in being a full half kilometer thick.   For armament, it contains sixteen fixed, twenty-two gun macro cannon batteries, three Nova cannon defense stations, and countless las and solid munition defense towers and relays. The fixed weapons are further supplemented with dozens of squadrons of Fury interceptors and the Hephaestus built Reaper attack craft.   Internally, the security of Nemesis is patrolled by two divisions of Imperial Navy armsmen in the Nemesis Starport Guard. Many on a rotational basis between service on the active battlefleet and the station itself. These armsmen are some of the best trained in the subsector and have known to conduct void walk boarding actions on non-compliant vessels close to the station itself.

Districts

Being built over generations with the oldest portions predating the Imperium, Nemisis is fairly segmented by the date of additions to the base itself. While the original structure still is visible in places being pre-imperial origin, the bulk of the construction is younger than M34. As such districts tend to match the need of the age of the section they inhabit with the first reputable district being one of the oldest in the Gilded Decks. These are dominated by the docking bays, shipyards, markets, and trade houses of the merchant dynasties of the sub-sector and visiting Rouge Traders. Typically it is understood that this district is governed primarily through the private security of corporations and of the merchants rather than any formal imperial authority due in no small part to the Rogue Trader presence. Immediately surrounding the Gilded Decks are the Bliss Rings. These thin sections house all forms of entertainment and sit in the nexus between military and merchant quarters. Errected in the early M31s and overseeing both of these older districts are the Void Spires. Occupied by the Administratum and acting as the bureaucratic hub, most of the more dutiful of the imperium's servants occupy this vital, if not dull quarter. The largest feature however comes with the construction of the Bastion and Fleet Districts in the wake of Waaargh Zapp Smasha' in the late M34s. The bastion districts sitting outside of the Bliss Rings and creating a wall between the civilian sectors and the void beyond. The Fleet District resting to Nemesis's polar south and the exclusive domain of the Imperial Navy. This district is dominated by the store houses, ship yards, and dry docks of military craft and as such are heavily guarded. The last district is at the heart of of the space port known as the Core District. This largely forgotten place has become the seedy under hive of the district and fraught with mutants, gangers, and worse.
