Gravitum

Gravitum is a sport invented in Samui and is easily the country's most popular form of entertainment. Taking place in a field where gravity changes constantly, spectators watch players fly through the air as they navigate through different gravitational fields and use them to gain momentum. Due to the high amount of magic required to create a Gravitum stadium, only one exists outside of Samui: that being located in the Danjonian city of Pōto.

Rules

Gravitum takes place on a 700x300 foot field. Speckled across the field anywhere from 5 feet off the ground to 200 feet up are floating, metal poles that have been magically enchantment to stay in place. In addition to the magical poles, the space between the ground and the 200 foot mark above the field has several changing gravitational field. These gravitational fields are 20x20 feet and run across the whole width of the field. This means that if one was to run from one side of the field to the other, the way they fall would change every 20 feet for a total of 35 changing pockets of gravity. The same would be true if going straight up on the field for a total of 10 pockets of gravity from the floor to the 200 foot mark. The only time gravity stays constant is when running perpendicular to the field. Roughly 25% of these pockets pull towards the ground while the others pull objects either up, forwards, backwards, up-forwards, up-backwards, down-forwards, and down-backwards. Each of these areas is filled with a magical aura that fills them with a specific color to allow the players to know what direction they will be pulled in them. Pink for down, Maroon for down-backwards, Orange for backwards, Yellow for up-backwards, Green for up, sky blue for up-forwards, navy blue for forwards, and purple for down-forwards. At each end of the field sits two circular goals with a 10-foot diameter and positioned 100 feet into the air- directly in the middle of the gravitational field. The game is played with two teams of 10 attempting to throw a hard, leather-bound ball into the opposing teams goal. The players must fly between the different gravitational fields (using the floating poles to navigate) while simultaneously accounting for the fields as they pass the ball to their teammates in an attempt to bypass the opposing team's defenses and score a goal. The opposing team attempts to intercept the ball between passes and is also allowed to wrestle the ball away from whoever might be holding it. Wrestling is allowed, however, throwing out punches and kicks is strictly prohibited. After three 25-minute sections of playtime, whichever team scored the most points wins. It should be noted that the gravitational fields and poles' positions are consistent throughout all Gravitum stadiums to allow players to grow familiar with the layout.
