Seren the spirit loa
Seren is one of the oldest of the spirit loas rescued from House Selwyth by Kormatin and his allies.
Kormatin opted to move the loas the long way home rather than the short way, so they didn't have to dodge Swynfaredian soldiers the whole journey trading soldiers for rocks. Seren sort of fell into the role of surrogate mother for the crowd of spirit loas.

Personal history
Seren was an apothecary and part-time midwife in Klarica County. She never married or had children of her own, preferring to act as an honorary aunt to the many children she helped birth.
Being a spirit loa might have had something to do with her staying celibate and childless. Spirit loas are famously bad at building and maintaining romantic connections.
Seren used her medicinal knowledge to help the living, and she tried to use her loa abilities to help the dead when she could.
She was happy to be rescued from House Selwyth's cruel experiments but she is not especially angry or vengeful about what she endured. She simply wants to rebuild her life and help the other spirit loas do likewise. Guided by an oracle, she (and others) were told that they would find safety if they "seek the loa priestess in the Land of the Lakes" which has been widely interpreted as "find Priestess Basia in the Fumayan Tapukeah Gedalia Mera Bishopric.
