Royal snails are best known for their existance as ingredients in royal purple cloth. Cloth so expensive that even sporting a small purple clothing item is a major status flex.
Royal snails are sometimes called "banded snails" but the colloquial name is used most often. They are best known for their use in making royal purple dye or less commonly royal blue dye. The difference in color depends a little bit on the snail in question, but mostly on how the snails are processed.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Real world Hexaplex trunculus are native to a tiny coastal band around the Mediterranean Sea.
Scarterran royal snails, except Scarterra's equivalent to the Mediterranean Sea is much wider. Royal snails can be found where you see elegant purple smears.
The best source for royal snails is the Island of Lunatus (the crescent shaped island on the west side.
