O'Doule

O'Doule are an enigma to Scandagliare. No one truly knows where they came to be but as the second age came, their sudden appearance in Great Haven created a great disturbance in the nation.
They are a technologically advanced race with a penchant for invention as well as social navigation. While much of their population lay in isolation from the world, many o'doule have gone out to explore the world without rules and regulations.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Males fur tend to be much more colorful in nature compared to females and yimales.
Yimales are perhaps the widest and most muscular of the three as to hold and incubate many children at once. Their body is capable of expanding up to twice the size of the other o'doule sexes. They have no distinct genitalia. Their fur is much more muted.
Females fur is brown or grey during the warmer months and white during the colder ones.

Genetics and Reproduction

It takes three o'doule to create children. There are males with a male component, females carry the female component of mating, then the yimale are the ones to store the two components and then will lay between 2-6 eggs. Only 1-2 eggs will survive incubation on average.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

They have wide, furry, mole-like faces with beady eyes and whiskers. A resting demeanor of curiosity and kindness is often laid upon their face. Their heads are often filled with tufts of fur.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

To non-o'doule, o'doule names sound almost like rhyming nonsense. In fact, they are supposed to be rhythmic in their nature. Names are gendered by the number of syllables.
Females have two syllables in their names. Some examples are Blina, Forla, Qapel, Wapqaf, Belbin, and Yupak.
Males will have three syllables in their names. Some examples would be Vipelpool, Borgbonbin, Hopquopsto, Worfelven, Storaqa, or Fenavel.
Yimale have four syllables: Bortboglinar, Qepakarra, Velviradal, and Belbimidon.
Those who socialize with other races are prone to take on nicknames that may be more familiar to the native races. Often following the same syllable rule, they will sometimes use a singular syllable nickname to ease use.
My name is Archsmith's Apprentice Daldoro of House Von Blipblithip. But for simplicities sake, you can just call me David.

Beauty Ideals

Males will take to dying their fur to come off as more vibrant for potential mates as coloration is a sign of virility and health.
The general idea of a beautiful yimale is one that is tall and slightly wide with a particularly good posture. As such, yimales are known to wear heels and hats in order to accentuate their height.
Females genetically tend to be mute of pronounceable features, as such, they will compensate for their lack of color by wearing exotic clothing and vibrant colors. Females are more likely to flaunt wealth than the other two sexes. Scarfs are seen as particularly fashionable.

Relationship Ideals

O'Doules have to be charismatic and good negotiators to be able to properly court two other individuals. In o'doule culture, it is common for the female to be the pursuer of relationships. Males have a tendency to wait for a yimale partner who already has a female partner as yimales are seen by the males as more desirable. Males and females do not often form relationships with each other but will pursue yimales together or separately. Households are of triads from one of each sex. Together they will have a family with roughly 2-6 children.

Common Dress Code

Females are the most ornate with their clothing. A common female will be quite fond of jeweled adornments, scarves, dresses, and items with high collars.
Yimales are heavy proprietors of headwear. Tall hats with feathers and sturdy brims. They enjoy shirts with vertical lines and buttons. They can often be seen wearing raised platform shoes or heels for footwear.
A common Male garb involves vests or other articles with open collars. They tend to show more of their fur than the others. Sometimes adorning a necklace or earrings. Trousers are optional for formal appearances.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Niviblinn are curious, elitist, and very reclusive to the rest of the world. Considering their past with other races, they have the belief that everyone else is out to take them down. This paranoia fuels the creation of innovations in weaponry, a sense of self-reliance, as well as a xenophobic nature. Niviblinn are known for their technology and ingenuity. Haven tech is greatly valued and when blueprints are smuggled out of the continent, they can create revolutionary technology booms as seen with the recent mass production of pistols.   Fiplifiple are the separatists who formed the nation of Claude Cordinad. These O'Doule are separatists to the throne of Great Haven. These o'doule tend to carry more of the “traditional” worldview of progressive policies and a desire to engage in cross-national trades. They are more likely to leave the island and adventure on their own accord. They still hold on to the innate sense of curiosity and intrigue that is strong in Great Haven though it is funneled more into a culture of altruism.

History

The origins of the o'doule are elusive at best, leading to much superstition and rumor. Rumors spread from the concept that they came from the first people, who they eventually overthrew. All the way to the prosperous of them being a remnant of a race hailing from a distant plane. What is known is that the o'doule conquered the totookichtin and cast them out from their homeland of Great Haven. The monarchs cut ties with the rest of the world, closing their borders. Extreme xenophobia and an ever-increasing stack of revelation piled up on the o'doule. A thousand years of isolation and contention lead to two events: The Civil Rebellion was an insurrection lead by the servants of the o'doule, the homunculi, who had since desired freedom and autonomy. Secondly, in tandem with the Civil Rebellion was Keth Villviplin, the parting of the Fiplifiple people from the Niviblinn loyalists. Losing half their population and all their slave labor, the kingdom of Great Haven pushed for further advancement in technology as a means to make up for the significant loss in labor.
Today, the o'doule's population is primarily split between two nations. Great Haven has established some trade relations with charter vessels as well as aquatic races. Claude Cordinad has joined the Pardisian Alliance and put themselves as a public face for o'doule technology and innovation.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

If the o'doule could have it their way, they would not have any interaction with the other races. With that in mind, many o'doule do just that.
Others however have a wanderlust that compels them to learn about the many different societies. This can come off as seeing other races as "specimens" instead of society. An o'doule's charismatic nature can rub some races such as grey orcs and sun orcs the wrong way. Dwarves however can have some great bonds with the o'doule as they both have a pension for creation and metalwork, though in different capacities.
