Gelladur
The capital of the Dwarven kingdom, and the city in which the infamous Netherbane is stored and maintained. When the Dwarven inventor who made it finished his prototype of a clean, magic-powered energy source, it turned out that it made for a weapon of mass destruction when combined with another magical energy. However, this came at a terrible price: the magical residue left behind would not fade over generations of High Elves, and had major detrimental effects on any kind of living creature. Though construction on the weapon was finished, the Dwarves thought it was best to seal it away forever. The Dwarven king was the one to propose the international treaty to never use it: This weapon was the Netherbane.
Gelladur is known for its metalwork and good drink: the locals like to joke that Gellans have steel and ale in their blood. There's a blacksmith on every corner, and a jeweler across from it. And many inns dot the city as well, so the streets of Gelladur often remain bustling until the wee hours of the morning. There is even a saying about it amongst travelers: 'Gelladur doesn't sleep'.
Demographics
Primarily Dwarves. Humans and Gnomes are also common, though Elves remain a minority in the city's population.
Defences
The city is surrounded with two levels of walls, set up in a circular fashion, creating a half-circle in the face of the mountain. The space between them is solely reserved for barracks and heavily guarded. The outer wall has Dwarven plasma cannons mounted on it, and archery towers dot both the corners and the mid-way points.
Industry & Trade
Gelladur's main exports are weapons, armour and the infamous Earthshaker ale, though metal jewellery is also a side income for the Dwarven kingdom. Dwarven metal alloys are said to last several lifetimes, so they're popular heirlooms.
Infrastructure
The city is built on mining and smithing, and it still shows. The forges of Gelladur are infamous: they are said to never grow cold. Not surprising, as a magma stream runs right under the city. The Dwarven blacksmiths of the city used this to their advantage, and greatly increased their production. But while the mountain provides basic ores for them to work with, the Dwarves often import the crucial ores for their characteristic corundum from the Goblins, who mine it in the Underground.
Roads mainly consist of Dwarven bricks, which are infused with small bits of ore to increase their sturdiness. Even the smallest alleyways are fully paved with these. Gelladur uses this in all of its construction: it's made to last. Like any city, they use magic to power their machines and light their homes. It's said that the Dwarves are even working on a horseless cart...
Assets
Magma-powered forges, natural ore to be found around the city, and easier to defend then a city on the plains: the mountains around it give the Dwarves the high ground by default, and prevent an attack from the rear. The natural environment also supplies more than enough stone to repair any damage to the city walls quite quickly.
Geography
Gelladur is built on the side of a mountain, meaning the city is built in different layers, which the Dwarves call levels. The higher the level you find yourself on, the wealthier the folk that live there. At the very top stands the Dwarven King's castle, in which the Netherbane is stored. The roads to the city are paved: the route to Gelladur is easily found, as a sand road will have a branch that is suddenly covered in Dwarven bricks.
Natural Resources
Gelladur has access to a wide range of metals, and is built on top of a magma stream. This allows for a bustling smithing industry.
