The Queen of Night
The Queen of Night, The Crimson Reaper, The Scourge of Mirathi, The Undying Hunter
Hidden from the rest of the world lies the lair of the most powerful vampire on Savinaru. An elven vampire who has lives thousands of years, with dozens of rumors surrounding her. Some say she’s so old she saw the rise of the elven empire, others say she was among the first vampires in existence, and still more say she has claimed a secret lair in Olzingilt. She is shrouded in mystery, which also leads to her many names. The Crimson Reaper, The Scourge of Mirathi, The Undying Hunter, but her favorite is The Queen of Night. The Queen of Night was once a terrifying monster, causing carnage and death wherever she pleased with the undying confidence of a god. Withering her foes with necrotic magic, ripping their still beating hearts out with vampiric strength, throwing grown orcs around like dolls, she is devastating in battle.
Her greatest weapon however is her schemes. As an immortal being, she has the patience to lay plans for decades before they come to fruition. She was also well known for being incredibly petty, bringing doom upon any she felt had slighted her. The best example of these traits is when the nobles of Mirathi drew her ire. The nobles of the kingdom of Mirathi insulted The Queen of Night, and while she was used to being cursed for her vile deeds, the nobles made it personal, and the Queen knew she needed to make them suffer. So began her scheme. First, The Queen began raising an army of the dead. Slaughtering the countryside then raising them into zombies and skeletons. She even slew a few ogres and drakes for the army. Next, she manipulated a group of orcs by launching fake attacks by Mirathi against them. They could not hope to defeat the city on their own, so she then subtly manipulated them into discovering the undead army. Their chief became the lord of the undead army, which caused the group to slowly become a necromantic cult. The Queen even blessed some of her most loyal cultists with vampirism. Once her army was ready, the Queen sabotaged the city by kidnapping citizens and infecting them with lycanthropy. On the night her army was told to attack, the werewolves turned and started rampaging. The guards were too busy dealing with the werewolves to notice the army until it was too late. One of the orcish vampires used their powers to sneak past the distracted guards and opened the gate for the undead horde. Between the werewolves and the undead, the city stood no chance and the cult burned the city to the ground. All the while, The Queen of Night watched with glee from the highest roof of the palace. In one night of blood and fire, she has wiped the city from the face of Savinaru, gained powerful new minions, and used the distraction to kidnap herself some free meals: including several of the nobles who started all this. This whole scheme took decades, between raising the army to manipulating the orcs to finding and imprisoning the werewolf to infect the citizens and a dozen other fine details. But time means little to a spiteful immortal.
This unflappable attitude led to her being an idol for other vampires: a paragon of their kind to aspire to be like. To this day, vampires try to gain the favor of the Queen of Night, hoping she will grace them with power, influence or wisdom. However, after thousands of years, the spark faded. She is still terrifyingly powerful, having spent centuries mastering both magic and martial skills in addition to her vampiric power, but she’d done everything. The screams of her horrified prey no longer held the same thrill it used to. No hero could challenge her, leaving her battles quick and unsatisfying. She withdrew into a nihilistic state: what was the point of eternal life if there was nothing to DO? She couldn’t just roll over and die though. Her life was an unliving legend, she refused to let her story end so flaccidly. That was when she had her idea: make her death as epic as her life. Take on the greatest hero in the world, duel in an earthshaking battle that would go down in history, taking the hero down with her as their blade plunged into her black heart. For a while, she resumed her rampage, hoping to draw the greatest forces Savinaru had against her. Unfortunately, nothing could match her, which prompted her greatest scheme yet. If she could not find a hero worthy of a great final battle, she would make one. For centuries now, she has attempted to train the perfect hero: one worthy of her Grand Finale. Any she sees the spark of potential in, she uses her influence to test the potential champion, manipulating events to make them stronger. So far, no hero has managed to meet her incredibly high standards, but this new mission has given her purpose and returned a spring to her step.
Mental characteristics
Accomplishments & Achievements
The Queen of Night has accomplished much over her long life, such as the razing of Mirathi, stealing from and then slaying the storm dragon Varimothir, and mastering necromantic magic. Her proudest achievement however is the town of Bloodfeast. Hidden away in the Citadel of Eternal Shadow, there is a hamlet filled with people of various races. The Queen keeps these people as a pantry, feeding off them whenever she gets hungry but never kills them. She has acquired this collection by taking those who no one would miss. Despite this horrid situation, the people don't seem to mind. The Queen takes good care of her pets, ensuring they are always in peak health and in a good mood. Several of them have even developed crushes on their mistress, which she finds adorable. While the motive is selfish, after all she doesn't want to drink the blood of sick, depressed people, she has grown fond of these living juice boxes. She won't admit it to herself but she has grown to care for them and gets very protective when they are in danger.
Morality & Philosophy
The Queen of Night has a very self centered philosophy: "I do whatever I want, its not like anyone can stop me". She will refuse to acknowledge the impact her actions have on others, because no one but her matters. The only people she even spares a thought for are those she cares about, but even then she prioritizes her own desires.
Her primary language is elven, but having lived through so many changes, she sometimes has difficulty keeping the different eras straight. She will drop in words that have been out of use for a thousand years into modern elven, unaware of the contrast until she thinks about it. Having been alive so long she has also had the time to learn dozens of other languages, including common, draconic, goblin, orcish, dwarven and more.
