Session 65

The Obsidian Basement.

  • The devil that the party unleases is a Narzugon, and everyone dispatches it very quickly.
  • After the fight with the Narzugon, the party continues through the castle and stumbles on a room with two identical rugs, a puzzle! After some time, the party can solve the puzzle by turning invisible.
  • The next room held a fierce Malephant and some demon henchmen. The party can defeat the fiend and find the entrance to what seems to be the upper level of the castle, but their mission was deeper below.
  • The last room of the castle consists of a huge puzzle involving turning statues. With some time and wit, the party can crack the puzzle, and they uncover the entrance to the second layer.

Darkness in the Mind and in the Sayter.

  • Lazarus uncovers that his mother is what seems to be powering the artifact. The good nature of his mother and the celestial that she grew (Lazarus) was the key to the system.
  • The party descends into the darkness, and a familiar voice beckons to them.
As you descend into the obsidian dungeon, the beam of corrupted light above isn't just something you see—it's something you feel and hear. The air around you is thick with a chilling, dissonant sound that penetrates the stone itself. It's a grotesque, echoing chorus of a thousand anguished screams woven together with a guttural, demonic chanting. It’s not a song; it's a cacophony of pain and dark reverence that vibrates in your very bones. Every step you take down the winding corridors seems to amplify it, a constant, sickening reminder of the unholy power at the heart of this place. The sound pulses with the light, a living, malevolent presence that grows stronger the deeper you go.
— DM's Description
The air in the stairwell thickens and grows unnaturally cold, a palpable sense of dread settling over you as you step into the magical darkness. The absence of light isn't just a lack of vision, but a heavy, smothering presence that presses in on all sides. As you take a few cautious steps down, a soft, mocking laugh echoes from the void ahead, a sound that is both reptilian and melodious, like sand scraping against silk. Then, from the impenetrable blackness, he appears. Not with a flash or a bang, but as if the darkness itself has been given form. First, two points of malevolent, crimson light pierce the void—his eyes—followed by a third, smaller one, glowing a sickly green, centered just above them. As he steps forward, the darkness seems to cling to him, rippling like a cloak. His form is a horrifying fusion: the lean, muscular torso of a devil, complete with obsidian scales and wicked, curved claws, leading down to the powerful, cloven-hoofed legs of a satyr. Two large, curled horns twist from his brow, and a barbed tail swishes behind him, the tip glowing with a faint, malevolent light. The air around him seems to shimmer and distort, and as he speaks, his voice fills the entire space, chilling you to the bone.
— DM's Description
  • Darpon mocks Lazarus, and the party hesitates to rescue his mother. The party can stand their ground, not backing down to the words that spill from Darpon's mouth.
  • The party surmises that Darpon must be on edge if he's going to them and mocking them himself.
