Session 55
A Grand Event and A Grave Discovery
- Everyone with their invitations makes their way to the great event happening in the center of the city.
- The party discusses the keys that they found and mentions that the old man was rambling about 5 keys, and in total, they had 5 of them. The party puts together that the Great Casino might have the final key that they are looking for.
- As the party joins the leaders of the different families to go into the casinos, they notice the owner of the Great Casino seems to be quiet and masked.
- After many games and Alkinn getting a dance with Yor the dwarf, Lazarus is called to the Owner's Office. The owner does not say much, but as soon as Lazarus asks about the journal, the keys, and the old man outside of town, the owner starts speaking.
- The owner explains to Lazarus that the old man was the owner of the great casino, and he is his brother. Without much explanation, the owner motions toward Lazarus to go back the the elders' hut and a box in the office. Confused, Lazarus puts together that something is keeping the owner from telling him the truth. Again, Darpon festers upon his mind. Lazarus grabs what seems to be the final key and collects the party after they finally seal the deal that they made with Darpon.
The Door in the Hut.
- The party approaches the village once more and realizes that it seems to have been abandoned for some time.
- They explore the elder's hut and find a corpse lying in the hut. The Elder who had been there for some time was grasping a handle to a hatch door.
- The door led to a basement and a door.
THE DOOR, In front of you, glowing in the basement of the village elder's house, a door glowing with runes of red, blue, white, and black. The runes are nothing that you have seen around; THEY ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM WHAT ANY LANGUAGE CAN COMPREHEND. On the door, 5 key slots can be found, each representing the color of the runes. The Runes read a saying of keep out, prisoner of the great one, the great shift, multiple binding spells, a depiction of a horned devil, and a depiction of a horned bard with a metal object. As you turn the keys, each rune melts away and turns into the essence in the sky. With the final lock, purely mechanical, the door creeks open, and a hall of glowing honeycombs lights the way to a staircase of mossy stone. Down the hall, you can hear what sounds like a lone trumpet and the flow of a waterfall.
The Bastion Of the Drones
- The Group makes its way down the hex-tiled hallway.
The hallway leads to a huge chasm, the size of the city, but just as busy, underground. This chasm is the home of magical type drones and what seems to be Colorful honeycombs on the sides of it. Large chains adorned the ceiling, which looked like they held the city itself up. Pools of magical liquid adorned the floor of the chasm, each swirling with its own colorful magic. A large crystal that the drones tend to hang from the middle of the ceiling. Honeycomb bridges adorn the chasm, each somehow connecting to the center of the crisalys. A presence penetrates your minds, but not your eyes.
- Myrion approaches the Crisilis in the center of the chasim and is met with a familiar face but unfamiliar emotions.
As you reveal the dust from the catalyst, you see a face that reminds you of hatred, malice, and deception. This face, however, is not one of these emotions but one of sorrow and fear. The face of Darpon appears before you, but in a beaten and squalid form. The Malnourished Darpon sees you and backs up to the other side of the catalyst in fear, begging for mercy.
- A large Queen Bee appears from around the Crisilis and halts most of the party in their tracks, except Myrion.
- Myrion strikes a mighty blow to the Queen bee and can release his friends, and with the help of everyone, they can take the Queen down.
Playing Hands
- With the death of the Bee, the party collects themselves and starts asking the other Darpon Questions, not sure if he is different or not.
- Not a minute passes until reality itself starts to bend into itself, and they feywild and the material plane start to mix and mesh.
- An all-powerful, angered Darpon reveals himself, making the ground shake and reality shatter. Darpon starts to obliterate the party, but seems to be holding back somewhat.
- With the rampage, he mutters some revealing things about his goal, a "different happiness." "This has never happened before." "Why are you different?" "This was never part of the plan," He then focuses his anger on Myrion.
- Myrion taunts him, saying that he hasn't made the deal yet and that he couldn't kill him. With a flick of Darpon's hand, the party is teleported to a lone field north of the city. And Darpon holds Myrion above the rest of the party like the hobgoblin at the start of their adventure.
- Darpon proposes a deal, a pull a card from each of the parties from the Deck of many things, for him not to kill Myrion.
- The party fulfills the deal, Muta loses all magic items, Wild gains and an abundance of riches, Alkinn gains a sentient but malicious sword, Izen gets slightly better looking, and Lazarus gains a deadly twin.
- Darpon releases Myrion and fulfills his part of the deal and disappears, but not before Myrion is granted two spells.
