Duchy of Leafborne

The Duchy of Leafborne is the southernmost duchy in Valdranan and the capital city and it's namesake rests between the vast Grey Mountains and the Southern Wastes making the capital difficult to besiege. The avenues of attack are limited to the South and Southeast with the Dark Forest barring military passage from Southeast the narrow Southern road is the only passage to the capital for invaders, but even the the army would first need to sack the City of the Pactbound which is a mighty task. Relations with the dwarves from the Ash Mountains are strong and fruitful. Relations with their kin in the Grey Mountains are more volatile primarily due to the realms incessent greed levied through taxes or the sword. That said, most of Leafborne's trade is made of imports and exports to and from the Grey Mountains. The City of the Pactbound is sacred ground for Warlock kind and the most powerful of their mages make a pilgrimage to unlock new powers and connect on a deeper level with their patron. The Dark Forest suddenly appeared toward the end of the War for Life and any who tread beneath it's eaves are never seen or heard from again but are they indeed dead or is something more sinister at work...
