The Desolation

According to The Legends, the world wasn't always a desert. In fact, the world was a lush green place with oceans and lakes. Water was abundant. Then the second sun appeared.

No one knows why or how it happened, they say there was an eclipse, a grand event that aligned all three moons in front of the sun. The world, for a few hours, was plunged into darkness and we wondered if we'd ever know warmth again.

Maybe that's why Avora caught fire, stayed too close to the sun for too long. Whatever started it, there was a flash of light and when the moons traveled along their path, Avora was almost as bright as the sun.

Naturally, things got hotter, a lot hotter. Forests withered, lakes and rivers shriveled to nothing. The whole world went dry in a matter of years.

Some say this is Etta's punishment for being lazy, others say it's Jenning's wrath for being cruel to one another. Others don't believe the Legends could be so wicked to us and if we learn whatever cryptic lesson they're trying to teach we'll be delivered back to a fertile world.

Manifestation

The Desolation began after the moon Avora became a sun. Within days, the average temperature of the world raised several degrees plunging the world into a drought that never ended.

Weather patterns changed significantly bringing frequent thunderstorms that doused the cracked dirt and caused flash floods. During this time many towns and cities were wiped away, killing millions. Many more were lost as they found themselves without access to clean water as the rivers and lakes began to disappear. In the end, the world was a barren desert wrought with sand storms and rain that would sooner kill than nourish.
