Sárs Goursél

General introduction

With plans to reclaim the homeland becoming ever more concrete, the king of the Duiniken created a new rank in his court, to prepare the conditioning of the people, especially those undergoing military training, for the march west. The name of the rank means 'overseer of the West'. The rank is filled with a high priest of the Duiniken state religion, due to their training in speech, tactics and politics. The Duiniken state religion is the very backbone of education and communications within the Duiniken kingdom and is closely intertwined with the ruling class as well as the military.

The leading doctrine of the Duiniken is, that they want to reclaim their homeland on base of it having been gifted to them by the gods. Thus their claim to the land is natural and cannot be dismissed. The creation of the title is one more step to prepare for the eviction of the Tarrabaenians and the punishment of the Messellat Mdûlûn.

Position within the kingdom

The Sárs Goursél is part of the royal council as well as the religious council of Nuat Duinis Talou. The first and current holder of the rank is Kein 'ahh Medháhh, a distant cousin of the current king. The connection between court and religion are tight and ranks and titles in higher positions are reserved to about a dozen trusted aristocratic families. The Sárs Goursél presides over an office which trains military personell to spread the doctrine of the reconquest among soldiers in training and to implement new aspects into training, as the practical applications division tests new weapons and their effective use in formations to have elements of their insights implemented in military training. Also, while not being an intelligence agency, one task of the office is sending delegations to Andaperna, to establish contacts for the necessary march through northern Andaperna.

Prerequisites to the title and affiliations

The title is only given to individuals closely related to the royal family to ensure absolute loyalty. But since some of the aristocrats are sworn to the Fhid'ou Lóm, the office of the Sárs Goursel is infiltrated by the most dangerous threat to the Duiniken royal house from the very beginning.
