Sallugalas, the mountainborn

General introduction

Sallugalas was one of the major kings of the early Era of the Earth in central Andaperna. His origins, though, are unclear. He is first mentioned as a formidable warlord and warrior himself. His earliest mentions trace him back to the nothern fringes of the Andaperna lowlands. He is thus believed to be member of a local ethnicity from the mountains. Old sources also describe him as being noticeably dark skinned, which, in connection with his strong ties to Madini, also make it possible, that he was at least part Madini. His language, though, is Andapernan, so at least part of his family must belong to this cultural sphere. His feats in life have tempted many, to speculate on his origin and youth.

The story

The great king of the past, Sallugalas, with his mighty beast Karshuppa, ruled this city and its land by virtue of his strength. But from where does this strength stem? Sallugalas came with his Men, mighty from the North. In the mountains they trained, against the beasts stalking the ravines. Sallugalas, the dark-skinned, came with his Men from the North. And they rode across the land virtuous and strong. Sallugalas, stranger with familiar tongue, won more Men as he proceeded from the North. He wore a woolen shawl in battle, handmade by his mother. This was his shield his sheath his cover, coming from the North. And as he stood before the gate, he yelled with all his power. And so the gate was shattered right by this voice from the North. And through the streets he rode, rising to the sky. He shone as bright as one knows does, kamaryas ashtar from the North. And to him bowed the city's Men as he came from the North. And even then the gods bestowed upon Sallugas more honours than could be believed. They brought this man from where he came a mighty companion: Karshuppa from the North. And wisely and strong he ruled, the wool-cled huntsman on his noble beast, they both came from the North.
