Northeastern Erana Forest Ursprache
General introduction
Many languages in northeastern Erana stem from the same Ursprache as can be seen in similarities in vocabulary, grammatical categories and morphology. These languages are even spoken by two races, Men and Len. As many similarities between the languages' vocabulary revolve around tree names and woodworking technology, it can be assumed that the Ursprache was spoken in a forested area, the Urheimat probably being the Austara Hrís.
History, properties and distribution
It is difficult to say, when the Ursprache was spoken. Considering the languages developed from it had already reached areas as far away as Andaperna and left written evidence as early as the early Era of the Trees, it must be assumed, that it was an unknown peoples language as far back as the Era of the Water. The migration of speakers of the language must have taken place at different times in history and on different trajectories. Some ethnicities of Andaperna were probably the first to leave the Urheimat and have in some aspects changed considerably from the other languages derived from the Ursprache, first and foremost in vocabulary.
Phenomena observed in all known derivated languages contain among others, that they are inflecting languages, the possession of three nominal categories: case, number and grammatical gender and a rich system of verb inflection. Also parts of the vocabulary are very similar to one another, especially body parts, landscape features and numbers.
While the Urheimat was probably the Austara Hrís, nowadays examples of languages derives from the Ursprache can be found reaching from the Skaura Hrís to Nuat Duinis Talou. It is possible that still more societies exist somewhere far off, for example on the icy continent Mentzuul, which have taken such a language with them.
Branches of the languages developed from the Ursprache
Well known examples of languages are Duinis 'Éch, Onkara Röddet and the Tarrabaenian Language. While Duinis 'Éch has no closer relatives, Tarrabaenian is related to two smaller languages which are spoken north of the Sévo Mountains.
A special role play the Andaperna languages, which are, as are Andapernas ethnicities, a mix of different origins. Here at least two derived languages with some dialects, which can be seen as individual languages can be found. These languages share only little vocabulary with other languages derived from the Ursprache, because of the special historical and cultural circumstances in the valley. On the other hand Andaperna languages that have not derives from the Ursprache adopted some vocabulary on woodworking technology into their languages.
