Drakkyn
Drakkyn a union of an elder and youngling race, with the might of a dragon and perseverance of mortals no wonder they are so feared and respected. Try not to fall into their gaze for they take what they want and find interesting with their flying ships and hordes of seasoned warriors they raid unsuspecting kingdoms in the blink of an eye. They are an impressive people built off strength, honor, and merit but now the drakkyn of the empire sit high and mighty on bloodied thrones and their greed and unwavering curiosity may be their downfall.-Ovan the Scholar
Basic Information
Anatomy
Drakkyn share common features with humans with their only major physical distinctions being their unusual hair colors and eyes which are draconic. Their skin tone and hair color depend mainly on ancestry and if they have parents of another race ( The Drakon family that rules the Draconis empire originally only possessed black hair but since they've started reproducing with Sun elves members of the family now have white or silver hair with a few having black hair). They possess a unique organ called the Draconis Elementum to Dragon Heart, that allows them to breathe a variety of elemental attacks, which element depends on the bloodline.
Biological Traits
Drakkyn that share blood with another race have different traits from their pure-blood kin
Half-orc: Usually taller and larger than pure-bloods and also possess a raging trait, orcish skin tones, and tusks
Half-elf: Live much longer than purebloods (depends on which elven race), are more slender, have larger mana pools, and possess a stronger connection to the aether
Half-dwarf: shorter than pure-bloods and resistant to most magic
Half-beastmen/beastfolk: Gain animal-like features and traits which may replace draconic ones and live for 200 years
Genetics and Reproduction
Drakkyn reproduce like mammals do and are able to mate with most other races, in fact, they prefer to mate with other races rather than their own.
Growth Rate & Stages
at around the age of 10, Drakkyn will go through varying stages of transformation in which they begin to become more dragon-like gaining scales, growing horns, a tail, and even wings until around the age of 15 they turn into the equivalent of a teenage dragon, the color of which depends on bloodline, once this event occurs a drakkyn is considered an adult, but only after they learn to revert back into their humanoid state at will. This process is simply known as the "shedding", in which they literally shed their humanoid form and some believe this to be a form of lycanthropy or something similar for it is definitely magical, however, transforming takes its toll on the individual and can leave them feeling extremely exhausted or drained and even forcing them into sleep. When drakkyn grow older as they transform their dragon state will be larger finally until they reach the end of their lives it will be the equivalent of an elder dragon. To make the shedding ability more efficient Drakkyn learn to partially transform themselves so they don't have to fight with the large bodies of a dragon and won't feel as exhausted afterward, partial transformation allows drakkyn to develop scales similar to a crocodile's in hardness, a significant boost in strength and allows for greater mobility. Not all Drakkyn develop the ability to fully shed but all are able to at least partially transform in this case they are considered an adult once the morphing stops and begins to recede.

Draconis Empire, Church of the Dragon, Drakon Family, The Dragon dukes, The Great clans
Beauty Ideals
Drakkyn are known to be beautiful by other races but beauty to them is seen through scars from battle on both men and women, well-kept hair for men and long flowing hair for women, a large number of adornments and tattoos, and muscular bodies, most men still admire a tall, slender-but-busty woman's look with delicate features. To top off this already daunting list: a small waist matched over a perky rear.
Gender Ideals
One of the few beliefs drakkyn hold is that men and women are equal in their eyes as long as you display your strength and merit, it is common for men and women to fight together, and other cultures' views on gender is insignificant to them.
Courtship Ideals
The Drakkyn have many courtship traditions that vary from clan to clan but there are some common practices.
When girls are fit for marriage their fathers will place an empty sheath on their belt and any suitors that fancied her would have to place a special curved dagger in the sheath called the Armnia which is a religious artifact all followers of the Church of the Dragon must wear, traditionally the dagger must be forged by the suitors own hands but now it is suitable acquires one on his own, if the girl accepts she will be wed to the suitor and the new Armnia will replace her old one from her childhood symbolizing her transition to her new life.
Another common practice is if a Drakkyn is in their full shed form and another mounts them it is seen as a marriage proposal.
Relationship Ideals
Drakkyn strive to find partners that are stronger than them or at least of equal strength to ensure that they or their household are secure in this case both partners will be determined equal and share major roles and decision making, otherwise, if a Drakkyn's partner is weaker than them they are to carry out lesser roles and a priority to raise children if they have them, unless told otherwise and the Drakkyn lets them hold equal power. It is common for Drakkyn to have multiple spouses but only if they are the head of the household.
Average Technological Level
The Drakkyn were the original creators of airships and much of their progression is in the magic arts as they also created runic magic which dwarven glyphs and runestones are based on and they are masters of elemental and dragon magic.
Major Language Groups and Dialects
most drakkyn speak draconic but any other language depends on where they live and many are polyglots.
Common Taboos
It is considered taboo for drakkyn of different clans to mate or marry as a child of this union may have vastly different traits than both their parents this could throw off the common way drakkyn identify themselves, by color, particularly in the eyes, hair, and even the color of their Dragonoid form because of this it is also seen as tarnishing their heritage as drakkyn get their look from their respective dragon god ancestors which they revere. This exact reason is a major factor why Brenian and Coronan drakkyn aren't on good terms because the Drakon family mate with other clans to produce stronger offspring, although through this practice it has been proven that drakkyn will retain the father's eyes and may have either parent's elemental abilities or a combination of the two and possibly a blend in the color of their scales.
History
The Drakkyn trace their roots back to the beginning of the Divine Era when humans would seek out Dragons and other higher beings for protection against the Elves after they lost the War of Divine Right which would begin the new era. After a time of intermingling with humans some dragons would begin to mate with them, the first of which being the dragon gods themselves resulting in the creation of the Drakkyn, normal dragons mating with humans would result in the birth of a Draconewt. This collection of humans, Drakkyn, and Draconewts would result in the formation of the Draconis Clans which would dominate the northern lands.
The clans would start off as nomadic people eventually settling down mostly in Brenia and only made settlements if they were near a dragon's lair, one of the said settlements would be Grímhöfn the largest Draconis city in Brenia where all the clans would gather on occasion and many dragons made their nests. Living in the savage wilds of Brenia would temper the drakkyn into the hardy people they are today, always being threatened by great beasts and neighboring civilizations for Brenia is a land rich in resources and many seek to exploit it.
The Sun Elves of Mytheasia were the major folk that sought to exploit Brenia for its resources and would hire Snow Elves to regularly attack Dragonkin villages and cities to bring back slaves and precious materials to fuel their empire. The Drakkyn would soon retaliate after one of their princesses was taken and a brief civil war, gathering allies from neighboring human nations and beastmen tribes to sail to Mytheasia and march on the elven lands in a war known as the Great liberation which lasted 60 years and ended with the elven empire collapsing and the Draconis clans taking over ushering in a new age for their people.
The Drakken who settled in Mytheasia would begin to diverge from their ancient traditions and adopt customs and values from the heartland humans where most of the empire's customs are based, from then these Drakken would be known as Coronan after the royal province.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Drakkyn have a major fascination with different races and seek to learn more about them. They tend to live in areas where many people live especially humans or cities where a number of races reside because of this it is common to see drakkyn with a mate from another race.
